Sorry, but I need to kick this dead horse

His players were on the field. The Head coach was not. How often does that happen?

yup. in all of the things that make belichick an ass hole, this particular thing hardly warrants a mention. but there is no doubt it was pretty small of him, pulling a randy moss. i will say though, the guy seemed to offer heartfelt congratulations to coughlin, so that's a plus for him.

nice try, detlef. really remedial sh*t here. BB ran to midfield and, more than a handshake, hugged coughlin. thought time had expired. went to locker room with most of the team. the end.

move on....

I'll make you a deal. I won't say this is the worst thing a coach has ever done and you don't pretend that 1) BB's gesture to Coughlin was anymore than it it was (about as short as coach/coach exchanges get) and 2) You admit that BB knew exactly what he was doing when he left the field after the official asked him back to the sidelines.

I understand that everyone thought the game was over. I also understand that it's very lame that the officials felt they needed to run another play. Right up until then, I have no problem with what BB did. I also wouldn't have minded one bit if, after that snap, he just went straight for the tunnel, having already met Coughlin at mid-field. However, that's not how it looks at all. What it looks like, is he's being a freaking baby and not showing as much sack as 11 guys who play for him who went out there for the final snap.

Like others, I don't think this is what makes him classless. I think it's just, yet another example of what does.

It's pretty common for the losing head coach to also stick around for a few minutes and congratulate the players of the opposing team too. Belichick ran off while his team was still on the field with his tail between his legs. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but it's just another instance in a long line that establishes that the guy is a prick.

Actually, in all fairness, I don't think the bit about coaches hanging out is correct. I always seem to see coaches being led off by security escorts right after they meet the other coach and just the players and assistants hanging out.

Did Belichek also invite all the media & fans onto the field with 1 second left on the clock? That field was mayhem. Belichek did the right thing. He congratulated Coughlin & got the hell out of there. Who knows what some idiot is capable of doing, and there was absolutely no crowd control in the middle of the field at that time.

C'mon, be realistic, guys. Bash Belichek when he richly deserves it (and brings it on himself) - there's planty of ammo for that. This wasn't on him. Security lost control. The NFL should have recognized it and refrained from having the completely meaningless last play run (all references to Pisarchik [sp?] aside).

Obviously it was a security concern. He was just playing the mother hen and wanted to protect his team. That would be why he left them out there.

If it really was a security concern, then I guess he would have rushed to the locker room even if they had won. I'd imagine that it would have been even more of a mob scene if they had won.

The guy did a pretty bad interview after the game...

And he was just as classless then as he is in 95% of the rest of the time he is in front of a camera. He and the Pats got what they deserved. Now lets see what happens with all of these tapes that have been destroyed. All I have to say is Karma is a beyotch!

really not true. it was clear to see that he was informed that there was one play left by the official. he made sure both coaches were aware. bb heard this, and still decided to run off the field, disregarding what the official said. the only way you let bb off the hook is if he did honestly think that time had run out, but, again, anyone watching could clearly see him being informed that there was one more play. he did choose to ignore this and did choose to run off the field, leaving his team out there.

so msaint, you really have to admit he should have been out there. noone is saying that he dissed coughlin, he just should have been there. is this a hugh issue? no, but he did do the wrong thing, that's all.

You're not the first person to mention that but I really don't see anything worse than other losing coaches interviews. He said the right things. He was obviously bummed out. Likely, and rightly more so than other losing coaches of the SB since they were heavy favorites and had a chance at 19-0.

Honestly, I've never really got what people expect to hear when they interview the losing coach right after the game.

no issues with the post interview. pretty typical. one point of note was that he did ditch the red hoodie. i wonder if he set it afire in the locker room ...

it would actually be quite funny if the giants fans came up with some form of modified red hoodie for them to wear around. someone should run with that idea ...

How about a little respect for the other team. A little credit? Not saying that has to be the way it is, but it's what you have heard in the past. "You gotta take your hats off to those guys..." type of speech. He almost looked like a little kid, smacking his lips at every question, and giving shyttie answers. I would have been happy to even hear this...

"We did a good job of getting to Manning but he made the plays when he had to"

Isn't that respect for the other team? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's the most stand-up I've ever seen a losing coach be but really...

Once again, it's an odd rubbernecking hang up we have with sticking a mic in a guys face mere seconds after a defeat. I've never really expected to hear any more than, "they made the plays when they needed to and we didn't". Now, after the showers and when they've had a chance to chill out, that's another story.

Edit to add: It's not like Mora "took his hat off" to the other team in the bit you linked. All he did was talk about how badly they played.

So is he classless or not? I 'm confused here...not to mention that I don't think leaving the field with 1 second left should come as any surprise, especially if there is no chance of winning and you have already shaken the opposing coaches' hand.

I agree with the statement that having to interview him or anyone on the losing team right after the game sucks. Maybe I am more critical with this terd because I hate him so much. When I watched it live, I said the same thing..."This guy is a terd, please get him off the TV." I am sure ManGenius was in front of the TV saying the same thing...

Am I not allowed to think it was bush league for him to run off the field and still not find huge fault in his post game interview? Like I said. I'm not saying the interview was the most courageous thing I've ever seen. Rather, that it was no worse than what i expect from those interviews. I contrast that with the fact that I can never remember seeing a coach be told to return to his sideline and seeing him leave his team on the field anyway.

Blogga please! You are allowed to think what you want! Isn't that what this site is all about? I was just saying that I don't see the difference in going back to the locker room with 1 second on the clock and IMO an interview that showed hints of classlessness (just as the rest of his shyttie interviews have). Now that being said, your statement about his interview is accurate. He gave credit where credit was due...but his delivery is what gets me EVERY TIME. He didn't win the big game and had a pouters attitude about it, just as he did when he got fined $500K for cheating. With Bellicheat it seems that he smiles a little when things are going well, but when they aren't going so well, we get shyttie interviews that in turn make him look like an A$$.....

Just came across this....FUNNY STUFF!

I'm jumping right on this train. In a past thread, I listed several points to prove that the Patriots, and Belichik (most especially) are NOT classy. I think I proved my point well. I think this doushe, the architect, proved my point even better than I could. It is a big deal to leave the field.

He did not, in anyway mistake the clock. It was painfully obvious when the clock hung at 2 seconds, then rattled to 1, there was going to be another play. The ref attempted to stop him ALL THE WAY to the other side of the field, and then even stood between the crybaby and Coughlin; and "The Architect" simply pushed him aside and hugged Tom. He then, proceeded to LEAVE THE FIELD, and left HIS DEFENSE on the field to play that final snap WITHOUT him. II think he should be fined, and quite honestly, suspended from coaching for a period of time. I have not had any problem with him "running up the score" but the fact is, they won 18 games this year, TROUNCING 15 of them, and NOT ONE SINGLE coach left the field with any time left to play.

Every single big game the Pats lose, this is what happens. Brady cries, Bill cries, the players cry, no questions are answered, and press conferences are less than a minute. Bill Belichik does not deserve ANY credit at all, for ANYTHING anymore, and I sincerely hope, wish and YEARN for "spygate" to bring back enough evidence to put him, and the entire coaching staff in the unemployed line, and at the minimum, asterisks next to "dynasty" if not, straight revocation of those past super bowl titles. Congrats Bill, you have, YET AGAIN, shamed the NFL, your team,. and your fans - who are the most loyal and appreciative fans on the planet.

Open your eyes, if you dont see the magnitude of this classless act, and the several times in the past, when he's done crap like this before. I hope he's in the proverbial "bread line" by kickoff 2008

I thought the Ref was trying to stop him from going to try and kick Coughlin's butt or something! It was VERY Bizzarro the way he just kept pushing right through and ignoring the instructions of the official. Putting your hands on an official is a violation. FINE anybody?

HE knew what he is doing... y'all already know how I feel about the cheatin' POS, so I'll end it here.
