so which song do you think the average person knows? Meaning which song could they name at least the artist or song title?

I wanted to add With or without you by U2 and Girls just wanna have fun but buddy says they have been used ad naseum in ad campaigns and movies and have lost their "eighties-ish" nuance...

I'm sure I"m missing many but these are what I remembered after going out drinking after work, coming home, passing out and waking up about a half hour ago

regardless of what should be listed, I still think these are pretty indicative of the songs you'd hear on yer local station that likes to play the "70s to Today" style playlist

I thought of Modern English - Melt With You before I even opened the thread. But then I almost changed my vote to Midnight Oil.

Living in Cleveland, do you remember when G98 switched over to NCX and during the transition they played REM's End Of The World for like 3 days straight?

The Eurythmics had a huge hit in the early 80's also.

Kevin, I think that was 107.9 when it switched over to alternative that played R.E.M. all weekend long. but I'm not positive.

I also forgot to add Dexy's Midnight Runners with Come On Eileen

You're probably right. Now that I think of it, G98 to NCX was like a week straight of Beetles. I was in college (87 or 88).
