So...in this thread we have two guys supposedly giving him props: one uses a defaced photo of him as an avatar, and another accuses him of being a liar.

All those who said the right will complain about EVERYTHING he does can now move to the front of the class. Well done.

Obama is campaigning for November. The spending freeze will never happen.

If you read the details there are so many exceptions that its a joke of an idea anyways.

"Although the freeze would shave no more than $15 billion off next year's budget -- barely denting a deficit projected to exceed $1 trillion "

This is a step in the right direction, aside from his middle class stimulus garbage he was touting yesterday.

There's only ONE thing in that list of talking points that might create any jobs (which is what it was being touted for) and that's the extension of the child tax credit. And that is almost a welfare program at this point since so many people get that who don't pay any taxes to begin with.

Man this whole mess has been frustrating since the mid-80's.

I don't know enough of the details to make an informed decision one way or the other. On it's face any freeze at this point might be good, but is it just putting your finger in the hole of the dam hoping it won't burst?

Jury still out with me on this one.

the good: obama thinks the way back to credibility is embracing the platform of his 2008 opponent. krugman is right to see this as representing an epic fail (even if largely symbolic) for "progressive" ideology.

the bad: it's a $15 billion drop in a trillion dollar bucket, and it only touches one eighth of the federal budget.

Appeasing the right with a knee jerk reaction to the naked senator is an epic fail.

Here's to more of the same.

Dude, really? Really? So ONLY those on the right are concerned about runaway fed spending? Look at how the independents voted in all three of the most recent elections.

Judging from most of my apolitical family members, they want what works. Period. Full stop. If it makes sense fund it. If it doesn't, jump in the lake. If it's not working, stop it. They give a flying fook whether the idea is full-blown Have to agree here socialism or "think of the chiiiiiiiiiiildren!" neo-anarchy.

I heard $250 billion over 3 years.

Republican reaction: A freeze? Where are the cuts?!?! Cuts? Well not to MY programs.
