CaptainHook
He'll play. He's always been a quick healer. I think back to earlier this year when they said he had a torn quad and could miss a month. He played the next week. budlitebrad
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Colts RE Dwight Freeney has a torn ligament in his injured right ankle.
CaptainHook
A sprain is essentially a tear. Not a surprise there. He still has 7 more days from right now. I will be shocked if he doesn't play. Edited January 31, 2010 by CaptainHook
MustOfBeenDrunk
reporting now that they are expecting him to play
rajncajn
Wondering if the injury may only be part of the chess game. The Saints also thought Demarcus Ware wouldn't play & we all saw how that turned out. Funny, all this coverage on whether Freeney plays & Will Smith & Shockey being questionable doesn't even get a mention. CaptainHook
It's part of the two weeks of Super Bowl coverage. Too much time to fill, so the media blows up every little bit of news they get. The Gregg Williams quote. The Freeney injury. They'll get to Shockey and Smith eventually.
WaterMan
Hats off to him if he puts up stats with that injury.
Cunning Runt
Not that this means anything at all, but Jim Mora Jr. was just on Sirius NFL radio and he says "Dwight Freeney will play, and he'll play well". Granted Mora just got fired after one year with the Seahawks, but it's his opinion that there's no way Freeney misses this game. Gonna game down to a game time decision it sounds like. Basically see how's he able to deal with it in pregame warmups and probably some pre pregame warmups.
Shorttynaz
I obviously have a bias opinion, but I don't see how Freeney doesn't play. He's gonna be in pain, but all football players after a full season are not 100% healthy. I think he will AT LEAST be in there on 3rd down plays and will be creating matchup problems for the Saint's O-line.
CaptainHook
Just saw Freeney on media day. Moving very gingerly on that ankle. Surprisingly it wasn't in a walking boot. He was in flip flops. No new news, other than he'll be a game time decision. I don't feel as confident as I once did.
ABearWithFurniture
Just saw Freeney on media day...He was in flip flops. That's about the worst support you can give your feet/ankles...unless of course he's wearing Quicksilver old medicine sandals
rajncajn
Someone posted a pic of it from media day on the Saints board & it looks pretty jacked up. But not knowing what it looks like healthy it could not be that bad. FWIW Warren Sapp said if he's not wearing a boot with ice then there is no way he plays this weekend. I'm still not buying it & it seems neither are the Saints from the interviews I've heard.
pig devilz
i heard a report, i'l look for the link, that he had a 'level 3 ligament strain' which could mean a tear(s) in the ligament. if thats the case, i dont think he could play....also right ankle and right DE doesnt bode well. guess they could switch him to left, he'd still be killer, if healthy.
