Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, shot their daughter and her toddler brother before killing themselves.

Their son Francisco, two, died instantly after being hit in the back.

However, their unnamed daughter cheated death after the bullet from her father's handgun missed her vital organs.

Police were alerted by worried neighbours who discovered the massacre three days after the shooting and the girl was taken to hospital.

The youngster is recovering in hospital in the town of Goya in the northern Argentine province of Corrientes, where doctors say she is out of danger.

Her parents said they feared the effects of global warming in a suicide note discovered by police.

Seven months old... survived three days on her own with a bullet in her chest...

Thank goodness the kid is seven months old and can grow up in a decent home.

Can you imagine the psychological effects if she were five or six and survived this? Not that this won't be hard to deal with one day.

in my opinion, your post is far more 'typical perch' than the actions of these clearly insaine people was 'typical algore fans'

I get it, you don't like, me. I don't give a chit. I don't seek the admiration of butt pirates. I was just trying to point out how stupid those on the left are that try to say the guy that flew his plane into the IRS building must be a conservative nut.

Clever, butt pirate. How did I not see I'd be setting myself up for such a well thought out attack - second time in two weeks.

Its true, you are not one of my favorite huddlers, but you are not so important that I should need to make that known.

My comments aren't about you - but your mentality. You are the embodiment of what is going to be the downfall of America. Too many issues of us and them. Too many labels. Too many broad generalizations. Too much liberals ARE this. Too much Obamamessiah. Ideas are no longer taken on their individual merit, but have the caricatures of one party or another forced upon them which is something that makes intelligent and desperately needed dialog impossible. As Americans we really do agree more on issues than we disagree on issues - yet we focus on the disagreements and piss everything else away.

You post more political BS .than anyone else on this board.

Now I am a guy who loves to learn. I even enjoy being wrong because it sets the stage for growth. I rather not be wrong - but that does not mean closing my eyes and ears and ignoring the fact that I am wrong - that means, when I find out I am wrong, I need to adjust my thinking and change my perception a little bit. Most of the OpEds posted around here are crazy biased. I find the greatest chance to learn is in the point and counter-point that follows these links, because its in that area that you are most likely to find the truth.

So, if your motivation is to try to educate and enlighten - then you are shooting yourself in the foot with the name calling and generalizations. You are shutting the ears of the very people that need to hear your message. Perhaps you post your links as a chance for you to learn. Perhaps you too enjoy how the point counter-point brings different prospectives to an issue. If you are doing that - than again you hurt your cause by being so antagonistic, because it drains intelligence from the conversation.

But then, perhaps you just enjoy being a bull, puffing your chest and shouting assorted rhetoric at people. If that is the case then clearly you have got things well underhand.

So in short it bothers you when I post something like I did, which was a clear and admitted parody of the conclusion the left jumped to regarding the dude that flew his plane into the IRS building. You sit there and spend that much time whining about my delivery and talking about how you like intelligent discussion. My question to you is "where were you 3 or 4 years ago?" My question to you is where are you when people refuse to discuss topic, but rather slam the news source or the person posting them? No, you clearly don't have a problem with it until it is a conservative that is using the same tactics. I don't remember any posts like that calling out bushwanker, Grunge, EGOP, skins, waterman, or even Ursa (admittedly he used to be fairly level headed). I don't see you asking them to quit with the personal attacks, and to stop trying to make posters or news sources illegitimate rather than argue the points at hand. No you are strangely silent when all that happens.

You and I both know this has nothing to do with your reply to this specific post. It is about what ties all of your posts together.

I am left leaning. I don't think that's any secret - butt pirate and all - but I just want to get that out there. I think I am pretty moderate though. I can't tell you where I was 3 to 4 years ago. Maybe I didn't speak out as much as I should and perhaps that is wrong of me. I do know that it was a different set of things going on and I know it became widely unpopular for people to say anything about the government. There is only one reason you call the Patriot Act, the Patriot Act.

If you questioned Bush - you questioned the soldiers. If you disliked Bush, you disliked America The word traitor was thrown around quite a bit.

We're talking about a time when people got kicked out of a Bush rally for wearing tee shirts with Bush's name and circle and a line through it. Now people believe they can carry rifles at Obama speeches because it is their right. Back then it was Bolshevik, Socialist and Nazi to try to be heard at town hall meetings - now its considered grass roots patriotism. A few years ago it was wrong to fillabuster, but these days - its okay.

So there is enough hypocrisy to go around. But if I didn't speak out when I should have - I apologize. Its clearly something I need to continue to work on.

Anyway. You say I am whining about your delivery - but you really need to think about why you are posting something and if the reason you are doing it is for anything other than to bloviate and stroke yourself than delivery is somewhat important. Nobody is asking you to be Dick Clark but attacking the people you are trying to get a message across to is kind of wrong headed.

And one last thing on my perceived hypocrisy. Its a little different to be growing out of a bad habit than it is to justify your bad habit because somebody else has/had it.

Perch is BY FAR, the biggest idiot on these boards. Not even close.

I'm neither left or right leaning in my politics, but I hate the dude. Seriously. It goes beyond dislike.

I feel your frustration, but I'd hate to see the thread get closed because of name calling. I am interested in hearing his and other people's responses. I think there's a good chance for some quality dialog here.

I like the gist of your post, but statements like these two seem bizarrely disconnected from reality.

in any case, of course you're going to be more annoyed by perch than you were by skins, because you are more likely to agree with skins politically. you don't need to apologize for that. politics makes us all hypocrites when it comes to stuff like this, it's a human nature thing. I stumble as much as anyone, but I think the antidote is to try and focus more on substance and ideas. it can be just as contentious, but at least on that level it can be more than a faggy little game of pattycake.

edit to add: and for the record, I can see why trying to score political points out of a story like this would prompt your kind of "calling out" response. I agree with you on that one.

Thanks. I' am curious why you think those two statements are bizzarly diconnected from reality, because I kind of believe them.

Granted, people are going to get passionate, and I dig that - but you can be passionate and still work towards the intention of exchanging ideas.

Perch mentioned a bunch of people I don't go after, but he didn't mention you, HughOne, TimC or a lot of other 'politicos' on the right. That is because you guys are passionate, but you are also pretty light hearted and funny about it. It makes for an easier conversation. You also don't continue to hammer down on the issues with the droaning of Ben Stein whenever and wherever you can. skins might have - but as you said, I agree with more of what he said than what Perch says - and he too was/is one funny futhermucker.

Wow... there's a lot of stuff going on in here.

I wonder if this insane overreaction to the effects fo Globabl Warming have anything to do with the earthquakes in Chile and Argentina this last week? Incredibly tragic... but thank God the baby survived (not only the shooting but then 3 days alone - what a miracle)!

you think people believe they have a right to carry a rifle to a presidential speech? that is just preposterous.

and as far as it EVER being wildly unpopular to say anything negative against the government, give me a friggin break. maybe for about six months after 9/11, for a few years during WWII....and really that's about it, ever. other than that, complaining about what the government is or isn't doing has been a favored national pastime. if anything, it got wildly popular starting around 2004 and continuing through the present. I mean, what can you even point to, crap like the dixie chicks? because they maybe didn't sell as many records after pissing off their fan base by making dumb political comments? again, gimme a break.

I stand corrected - it was outside of a speech - a bit different I suppose.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/08/17/obama.protest.rifle/

And while its sounds to me like you didn't pull the unPatriotic / hates troops / hates America card - would you perhaps allow for you to have not been as sensative to it - because as somebody who had a lot of concerns with a lot of things during our eight years under Bush, I can assure you - I recieved those sentiments a lot. At the absolute very least I was forced into a group of people and assigned a characature of somebody who loves terrorists and hates America.

I mean - whatever, it didn't bug me all that much because I knew why I had the concerns I had - but it is silly to say it was not there.

Az . . when you have the Vice president saying (Dick Cheney) that it is tantamount to treason to question the actions of a wartime president (GWB) then yes . . it was painted as being un-American to question Bush's policies . . whatever they may be. Is that a healthy way to run a gubmnet? If that same standard was applied, then Perch is a traitor for the avatars he posts here. After all . . . he isnt supporting a wartime president, so he must hate America . . right?

Complaining about the gubmnet has been a popular pastime, because they rarely ever do anything right nowadays. It is our right to question what our elected officials that "supposedly" represent us are doing. To put on blinders on what was spun during the Bush years is pretty disingenuous . .
