That didn't take long

(CNN) -- Ten states plan to file a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the new health care reform bill, Florida's attorney general announced Monday.
"This is a tax or a penalty on just living, and that's unconstitutional," he said of the mandate to purchase health coverage. "There's no provision in the Constitution of the United States giving Congress the power to do that."

So lemme get this straight........these states were cool with the way things were? Or the idea of the Federal government running the whole shooting match soup to nuts a la socialist Europe? Or what?

It's flat out unconstitutional what just happened

does matter if you are left or right, folks, what has occurred here should concern each and everyone of you

I have a feeling there are people well versed in the constitution that would vehemently disagree with you.

I highly doubt that. Congress and the president violated the 1st, 6th, and 11th amendment and have, essentially, posed a living tax on us. That is highly unconstitutional.

I don't think so. Partisanship is playing a role here, but states have a genuine reason to fear the results of this bill aside from party politics and consitutional law. I've heard a few state gov people talking about the expansion of medicaid under the bill. They believe (can't verify this) that there are not adaquate compensations in the bill to help states cover all of the extra enrollees in medicaid. Many states are close to broke as it is, a serious uptick in medicaid costs may well finish some of them off...

Can't we find some stupid loophole or some method of getting rid of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama kinda like they found a loophole to get this whole thing in?

I hope the health care thing works but I am disgusted by the way they went about it.

I puke in my mouth every time I see that pig of a woman named Pelosi

I won't pretend to be an expert, but you might want to read this: http://www.factcheck.org/2009/10/health-ca...constitutional/

I stopped reading after this:

We’ve received dozens of queries from readers about this chain e-mail, and especially about its claims that the House health care overhaul bill, H.R. 3200, is unconstitutional. That’s a question judges get paid to settle, so we can’t answer that definitively.

I just found the real reason Boehner is so upset about the new healthcare bill:

Summary of new health care bill in 2010

In the year 2010, there would be three major changes to health care. First, insurance companies would no longer be allowed to deny coverage to children with pre-existing illnesses. Second, children would be able to stay on their parent’s insurance policies until they turn 26 years old. Third, Medicare recipients who fall into a specific coverage gap will get a $250 rebate.

Other changes include an excise tax on indoor tanning, which will increase the cost of that service. Also, individuals that have not had health insurance for 6 months will receive a subsidy to enroll in high-risk insurance pools run by the states. All new insurance plans sold must exempt preventative care and screenings from deductibles. Finally, small businesses with fewer than 25 employees would receive up to a 35 percent tax credit for providing health insurance to their employees.

that makes three of us. I can't stand any of the lefts congressional leadership. They embarrass me more than left wing talk radio.

If Obama has learned one thing from this, it's to do more of the framing himself instead of outsourcing it to that shower of incompetents in Congress.

Side note: Is there any way he can legally engineer a change in House and Senate leadership?

He screwed up by pulling Rahm into the White House with him. Should have left him in the House where he may have challenged Pelosi for the leadership position.

He should be able to, he is our King after all.
