Big Dogs
Question for the Huddlers...... I'm commissioner in one of my local leagues, and have a team that is asking about the Big Ben dead ball fumble. (2:37) (Shotgun) B.Roethlisberger up the middle for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Miami challenged the touchback ruling, and the play was REVERSED. (Shotgun) B.Roethlisberger up the middle to MIA 1 for 1 yard (C.Clemons). FUMBLES (C.Clemons), declared dead at MIA 1. 2nd part of review was not able to determine who recovered the ball. Because of a rule in the NFL, this fumble by Ben Roethlisberger was not ruled to be recovered by Miami. So, Big Ben didn't get hit on this fumble loss, and Miami didn't get credit for the fumble recovery from a scoring perspective. (-2 for Big Ben & +2 for Miami) You can guess, he has the Miami defense, and he's playing against the guy who has Big Ben, and the game is close. We don't have a specific rule around something like this other than to say that where it's not defined, NFL rules apply, so in this case, I would guess he doesn't get the points, but if the game comes down to this, I can understand why he would be upset... Anyone have any thoughts??
Big John
No official Miami recovery, no defensive points for them.
MustOfBeenDrunk
that's why you have the rules ,,, if I was him would I be pissed ,,, YES but nothing you as commish can do about it

(-2 for Big Ben & +2 for Miami) the ball did'nt change possesion so no fumble for Ben. Miami did'nt recover the fumble so no fumble recovery for them. What's the issue? It did, the refs just made a terrible call.
gsmayes
The ref made the correct review call, but obviously it should of been ruled a fumble to beginning with. And considering there were Steelers also in the pile, there's no telling who would of come up with the ball had the officials not whistled it dead and started pulling guys off. Also, this is why you run your league on a website that computes the scores for you. The stats and scoring they use is the law. Big Dogs
I acutally just saw the video replay, and agree, Pittsburgh retained possession, so just a bad call by the refs.... Thanks all!!
HowboutthemCowboys
It did, the refs just made a terrible call. I was watching the game and I agree it was handled badly. Regardless, as far as FF my above post is correct, no?
CaptainHook
Have the Steelers ever had a call go against them at the end of a game? Immaculate Reception at the Dolphins today wasn't there another goal line play with Ben a few years ago? Seahawks Super Bowl they got every call. historymike
Agreed - the use of a free platform like ESPN or Yahoo eliminates the arbitrary rulings by league commissioners: whatever the NFL reports is what gets counted, regardless of whether or not the refs make a stupid call. Grits and Shins
It is no different than any other TD reversed by review in regards to fantasy scoring.

Thats what I would like to know. There was NO fumble so why is anyone worried about points?
Ursa Majoris
Thats what I would like to know. There was NO fumble so why is anyone worried about points? No lost fumble. I was once in a league that counted fumbles at -1 even if it was recovered.
