BearBroncos
Source Okay Elway, W - T - H here!! Are you MAD????? Unless I'm missing something, but are we even considering Fox as a head coach? Maybe OC, QBC or RBC??? Please not the HC and maybe this is just semantics. Add news: the interview is delayed due to weather. It should be delayed due to a mental realization! John Fox has coached in a SB this decade, and with Jake Delhomme playing QB to boot.
detlef
Hey, the John Fox thing ran it's course and it was time to go, but that doesn't mean the dude didn't get results and wouldn't be good in another city. But why do they need to ask permission? Edited January 10, 2011 by detlef
rajncajn
I'm hoping the Bronco's sign Greg Williams & Fox is his replacement for DC in NO.

But why do they need to ask permission? Because I think he's still officially still under contract and until the terms of his contract have been completed, teams must request permission to talk to any employee of another team. How screwed up would it be if they didn't grant the permission.
BearBroncos
If I recall, Al Davis has done this in the past.
kpholmes
FWIW Sceft and La Canfora have both been joking on Twitter all afternoon about how Elway is interviewing everyone he can get his hands on, so I wouldn't look too far into this. detlef
If I recall, Al Davis has done this in the past. Well, I can imagine there would be a situation where it could have some merit. I'm just saying that, considering everyone knows Fox is gone and Carolina is actively seeking his replacement...
Zooty
Unless I'm missing something, but are we even considering Fox as a head coach? Maybe OC, QBC or RBC??? highly doubtful since he's a D guy not an offense guy (Obviously by how bad they are on O) Fox getting any other job is a joke. 2009 sealed his fate when he went down with the ship (Delhomme) The guy should have been benched. His decision making is poor and his refusal to play rookie (Deangelo Williams and Foster before him) is comical. Let him be a DC like Wade Phillips. HC is too much for him
BearBroncos
Don't get me wrong here, I do think Fox has some talent and in a different situation, he could build a decent team, I just don't want to take that chance here in Denver. Granted, Denver needs a coach who is willing to only be a coach and not GM, HR or head janitor and Fox would fill that roll but I'm more interested in some younger talent. buddahj
Official, John Fox is the new Broncos HC. Elway wrote on Twitter in announcing the hiring Thursday that Fox “is a dynamic and proven leader who will energize our entire organization.”
BeeR
This makes no sense and yet for some reason I think somehow this will work.
Rovers
Fox is a safe hire. maybe not exciting for donkey fans, but a solid hire.
kpholmes
Fox is a safe hire. maybe not exciting for donkey fans, but a solid hire. Agreed. Won't get anything flashy, but you'll get a consistent coach who can get you back to mediocrity.
tazinib1
Where is BroncoBilly!!!! I'm actually waiting to read his thoughts on this hire. All I gotta say is: STEW IS FREE!!! FREE I SAY!!! FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Why do you say that? If he follows what the Chargers did, it was RBC with Tolbert and Matthews. Plus, DeAngelo may be back. MTSuper7
we had our fill of 'exciting', let's give this try. +1 - I'd rather get an established guy. Fox has been to a SB. There's some credibility here. He needed a change of scenery anyway. Hopefully it works out. Can only go up from here anyway. I'm more worried about the personnel decisions at this point than the coaching. It'll be interesting to see how well the draft goes (and free agency if the lockout doesn't happen or ends quickly). Because he was the DC, not the HC or OC. And Sproles is nothing more than a change of pace/special teams guy at this point. Stewart is the most talented of the group and thats all there is to that. MTSuper7
fortunately, Fox won't have total control. Also, I bet he realizes that the DEF sucks so much that he'd be better off spending those limited resources on the trenches. +535,
