NYPD caught being corrupt

Show me a group of money draining teachers with 1,500 charges pending against them. It's interesting to entertain the idea that some of these corrupt cops could also be macing peaceful protesters.

I will bet you a a ton of cash that if you could look up the records of all the OWS protestors you would find more than 1,500 guilty charges of some type of illegal infraction.

Oh wait that is OK because being a liberal it is ok to be a hypocrite and it was probably not their fault.

Those 16 policemen should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. And that should have zero bearing on the 34,500 other NY policemen who perform a dangerous, stressful and sometimes thankless job.

Safe to say that 0.0005% of any organization can be corrupt.

I didn't delete that post but I'm used to my posts being deleted.

Here you go...dumb azz....

•The number of K-12 public and private school students in 1996 who have been or will be sexually abused by a member of the school staff is nearly 7 million of 51,331,000.

•Between 1% and 5% of teachers sexually abuse or harass students.

•At least a quarter of all school districts in the United States have dealt with a case of staff sexual abuse in the past ten years.

•Most cases of sexual abuse of students by teachers are never reported.

•In nearly half of the cases, suspects were accused of abusing more than one student.

•Only two cases were cases of false accusations; less than 1 percent of the cases studied.

•No type of school was immune to abuse: public or private, religious or secular, rich or poor, urban or rural.

•Responses to Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Students by Staff

•38.7% of the teachers resigned, left the district, or retired

•17.5% were spoken to informally

•15% were terminated or not re-hired

•11.3% received a formal verbal or written reprimand

•8.1% were suspended and then resumed teaching

•7.5% were cases where the superintendent determined that the teacher hadn’t meant to sexually abuse

•Of the nearly 54% of abusers who resigned, weren’t rehired, retired, or were terminated, superintendents reported that 16% were teaching in other schools and that they didn’t know what had happened to the other 84%. All but 1% of these teachers retained their teaching license.

Certainly not going to dispute the data in your post (despite there being no link) but as a side note, I often wonder about the kind of statements quoted above. You see this in rape data, for instance - there's always some note about hugh numbers of the crime never being reported. If that's the case, how can anyone possibly contend it actually happened?

Typically, this kind of allegation comes from vested interests that benefit from a problem being perceived as larger than it really is.

Who caught and charged these corrupt cops? Was it non-corrupt cops?

Now the defense bar and the civil litigation bar will work to see that they beat the charges and are not disciplined through dismissal. Then, when these corrupt cops do something else wrong that same civil litigation bar will be outraged, outraged I say, that these cops are still on the force.

My only intent was to point out what a ridiculous comment he made about the teachers compared to the cops. I was not about to put a lot of effort into it. The point is that if you did a little more digging, I would bet that you will find plenty of criminal cases with teachers as the defendants. Which is the exact opposite of what he said in his deleted post. The entire point of my original response was that you can find article after article where a certain segment of the population has bad seeds. So to start a thread when one of these groups has some problems is idiotic at best. Dude has an agenda against the cops. For every bad article on the cops, I can find hundreds that show how caring and dedicated they are. For some reason, he thrives on the bad and ignores the good. Again...you can do this for every single profession. What is the point?

The point is that it is an attempt to justify his world view. We all do the same, some more vigorously, some less.

To me the interesting thing is when those who purport to have an open mind and to be free and forward thinkers, those to whom it would be a central focus of their own self perception that they are open-minded, that those persons can engage in such conduct with absolutely no dissonance being created within themselves.

Good grief. For the first and, most likely, only time, we actually agree on something, at least as far as there being bad seeds in every group go.

I think I'll go and lie down.

National Police Misconduct NewsFeed Daily Recap 10-28-11

October 29th, 2011

Here are the 15 reports of police misconduct tracked in out National Police Misconduct News Feed for this Friday, October 28, 2011:

16 New York NY cops were arraigned on varied charges as part of a corruption probe that began with ticket fixing allegations that allegedly involved over 500 officers in that department. One of the officers was also indicted on drug charges, another for leaking details of the investigation to the police union, and four others for covering up an assault case against a fellow cop. [0] bit.ly/vSIqjj Meanwhile, 2 Tuckahoe NY cops won’t be facing charges for helping a NYPD cop avoid DUI charges in an incident that was uncovered as part of that ticket fixing probe. Prosecutors there say they couldn’t build a case because the officers invoked their right to remain silent and, while they say the officers may still face internal discipline, their lawyers say that’s not going to happen either. http://is.gd/tdFtLG

During the arraignments, several New York NY cops jeered prosecutors and cheered for the indicted officers, all insisting that fixing tickets is a privilege of being an officer. One assumes that they were also cheering for the officers indicted on drug charges, obstructing the investigation, and the four indicted for covering up an assault case for another cop as well. Odd how few people seem disturbed when cops support suspected criminals and boo those trying to bring them to justice. [4] bit.ly/tkb7mh

Buena Park CA settles an excessive force lawsuit for a confidential sum to a man claiming cops beat & bludgeoned him for giving a cop a “man hug” to show there were no hard feelings when he was kicked out of a theme park when the woman he was with held his place in line while he used the restroom during an 1.5 hour wait for a ride. Two things before calling it a night.

First, from New York NY, a series of videos, below, from an Occupy Wall Street protest march in support of #OccupyOakland solidarity allegedly show incidents of excessive force and police getting more aggressive with protesters. I can’t officially add it to the database yet as I haven’t had time to fully analyze what’s going on, which is difficult in protest situations especially when it’s not a full video but snippets of incidents. But I wanted to put it up to see what you think in the meantime. [3] bit.ly/vSWI6B

Next, again out of New York City, some info has been leaked out about pending charges against at least 16 NYPD officers in the previously reported ticket fixing scandal. This update isn’t in the feed yet because I want to wait for the official lists of charges and number of people charged before recording this one. We’re aware of the recent update on the NYPD ticket fixing scandal, waiting for the official count of cops charged bit.ly/vlLNIN

National Police Misconduct NewsFeed Daily Recap 10-26-11

October 27th, 2011

Here are the 12 reports of police misconduct tracked in our National Police Misconduct News Feed for this Wednesday, October 26, 2011:

Baltimore MD settled a lawsuit for $45k to a man who suffered broken arm when arrested by 2 cops on charges that were eventually dropped. It’s sad when excessive force is such a common problem in a city that newspapers bury these reports as a small blurb within an article about something else like it’s an everyday thing. [0] bit.ly/uKaqLg

Orlando FL settles suit for $24k to a man who was tasered twice & peppersprayed several minutes after he turned around and grabbed a cop who shoved him from behind then apologized because he didn’t realize it was a cop. [0] thesent.nl/sHQtXW

St John the Baptist Parish LA school cop has been indefinitely suspended w/o pay after he was accused of inappropriately touching a female student. [0] spam.ly/uc9kJL

Baltimore MD settled suit for $290k to an ex-police chopper pilot claiming he was retaliated against and forced out for reporting departmental waste and safety issues. [0] bit.ly/uKaqLg

Indianapolis IN police are being accused of giving a police lieutenant special treatment when he was found drunk in his truck while armed in the parking lot of an apartment complex that he didn’t live at. Residents who called police about the people parked in a truck who didn’t belong there complain that he wasn’t detained when anyone else clearly would have been arrested. [3] bit.ly/uRv69f

Jefferson City MO cop is on paid leave after arrested for drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. [2] bit.ly/uNnn47

Before I go, a quick reminder about some of the guidelines about what reports qualify for our news feed and police misconduct database:

We only track reports about misconduct committed by people who are employed as a certified or sworn officer at the time of the alleged incident. This means we don’t track misconduct committed by people who are no longer officers when they do something bad and we don’t track cases involving non-sworn employees like clerks, parking enforcement, or corrections officers.

We have guidelines set to limit updates on reports to only include status changes that are significant to a case that has already been tracked. So, while we would report that a cop who we tracked as being charged with a crime was convicted or sentenced for it, we won’t track that the officer’s trial started or specific items of testimony about the case were published unless that testimony revealed other allegations not already tracked.

For a more detailed discussion about our reporting and tracking methodology, please refer to this page on our site.

Thanks, and stay safe out there!

National Police Misconduct NewsFeed Daily Recap 10-25-11

October 25th, 2011

Here are the 16 reports of police misconduct tracked in our National Police Misconduct News Feed for this Tuesday, October 25, 2011:

Oakland CA police and police from surrounding agencies are being accused of using excessive tactics and force against #OccupyOakland protesters in a series of teargas volleys and raids on encampments that continued late into the night. One video, shown at top above, shows protesters carrying off an injured man they claim is a veteran who was hit in the head with a less-than-leathal projectile. Meanwhile, in the video below that, a protester testifies how they came under fire while trying to tend to an injured person who wasn’t moving after a volley of teargas and other ordinance. Next, a (updated) video, shows the incident involving the injured person, (now being reported as the veteran who was critically injured), that he’s talking about, you can clearly see the projectile lobbed from police lines before it explodes amid the crowd trying to assist that person. The last image shows a man claiming that he was hit in the head with a rubber bullet, keep in mind that aiming for the head with any type of less-than-leathal ordinance is generally against policy for most agencies. Cops fix tickets for friends & family?! Have to agree here!!!!1!!! Somebody call 60 Minutes.

Here's another dirty secret -- firemen & EMTs show their badge/ID after getting pulled over, no ticket unless they're hauling pounds of dope or completely sh*tfaced (and in that case they get a police escort home in most instances).

It's one of the most dangerous and thankless jobs there is, and NYPD are probably the best in the nation. This thread is another  expedition from a usual suspect.

 come brack Timmay

I haven't had a ticket since I started running from the cops. Remember to exit the interstate at 150 MPH and make a left/left. Cops are trained that most people make a right/right. Those coppers aren't keeping dis man down.
