caddyman
To have this team at 9-1 with Alex Freaking Smith as his QB...amazing. Although their schedule is fairly easy, they have still beat some good teams. Could realistically finish 14-2. Too bad they are in the NFC and Aaron Rodgers is in his prime. And to think many in the bay area were begging for either McNabb or Palmer during the off season ,, Palmer if avaialbe before the start of the season still may have been a great grab for SF ,,, Alex just looks lucky to be getting the W's

coordi88
that defense is playing some inspired football. the 49ers can just small ball it up and down the field, it makes smith look more efficient than he really is. wheather harbaugh catered to smiths style or it just happens to fit, i dunno. but there is basically no way to stop them at the moment, pretty or not. shame they cant play GB in the superbowl

stevegrab
Reminds me a little of the Ravens the year they won the SB (2000?). Dilfer was nothing special, strong running game and a good defense. The SF D is not as dominant, and probalby not enough to stop a very potent offense like GB. During NFLN pre-game show yesterday they had a discussion of who could beat the Packers. They all agreed that it would probably have to be a team that could score a lot of points. You're not going to hold GB to under 20 points, they'll probably score 30ish and you need to keep up. That doesn't sound like SF. Saints were one team mentioned. Somebody even said the Bears because they are familiar and may be able to do it on defense, but that was before they lost Cutler. Still lots of football left, SF is almost a lock for the 2 seed though with their scheudle.

I'm happy as chight about the Niners, but I really don't see how we get past the Packers, assuming we make the NFC title game. Stranger things have happened, and we might actually stand a better chance if we played them in Lambeau than in SF, assuming the weather was nasty up there and mild in SF that weekend. The Niners sure haven't been bothered by playing away from home this year and a nasty, cold day might suit their style better than it does the Packers. You can score on the Pack, unfortunately, what the Niners defend best, the Pack don't do much of, that being run. However, I certainly don't want to get ahead of things. First they've got to lock down a top 2 seed, and then they need to show up in the conference semis.
STL Fan
Wait, did you guys not notice that the Niners have TWO against the Rams still to play? God, we're gonna get creamed.

That's the funny thing. The other week, Tony Dungy was asked on the radio about the Niners and Bengals. About the Niners he basically said, they've got a good record, but they play in a horrible division. I'd like to see them play some of the better teams from around the league. Um, they hadn't exactly built that record by feasting on their crappy division, at that point, they'd played exactly 1 of the 6 division games they were going to play. All the division games seem really back-loaded this year in the NFC. By design, I guess to build drama. Anyhoo, we're gonna kick your ass when we finally get to play you guys. Or not. You know, whatever.

I haven't looked at other teams schedule but same for the Browns. 5 of their last 6 are division games including @CIN and home/away sets against BAL & PIT. The lone game outside the division, @ ARZ. It may be the whole league this year, and it may be because of the lockout to make sure most of the division games were played if they had to shorten the season by 4-8 games. Phat Rugby
I am the opposite of a Niners fan and have to admit that they are playing well because they are coached well. It was evident several time throughout the year where they won games by simply outcoaching the other team (Hey Lions!! Remember that?" Seahawks21
I was lucky enough to see a few practices at Stanford. I have never seen a coach pay such attention to the smallest of details. I was horrified the second he signed in the NFC West. They're gonna be really good for a while. He also has nearly the perfect roster for his mentality. He's already a top 5 NFL head coach IMO and could climb from there.

As you stated they have built a 9-1 record vs. pretty decent teams outside their division and a few very impressive eastern road wins! I'm excited as hell about this team do I think they can take down GB.... well like they say any given Sunday. I give them just as much chance as anyone based on defense alone as you need to slow down Rodgers and Co. if you stand a chance of beating them. GB is the cream of the crop and I believe unbeatable on most weeks right now so here's to hoping if we meet up with them somewhere in the playoffs it is one of the weeks they are beatable. Go Niners!! Edited November 21, 2011 by Sunday Couch Potatoe
Bier Meister
can only beat gb by keeping rodgers on the sideline....maybe. because gb can score pretty quickly. 9ers would have to play a near flawless game and own at least 2/3 of the clock..... Which fits into the run then run then run again the niners love to do.....so maybe just maybe ..... only time will tell but ya not likely and that has alot to do with the flawless game part of the equation
