cliaz
...day 4 without sleep. I'm getting so much better at this whole not sleeping thing. I made it through presenting our revenue projections for the remainder of Q3 to our new EVP today without messing up or slurring. Even prescription strength sleep meds don't help. I'm beginning to think that the whole 'we need sleep to repair our systems' is all BS propagated by a join conspiracy between the medical and matress communities. Chavez
I'm beginning to think that the whole 'we need sleep to repair our systems' is all BS propagated by a join conspiracy between the medical and matress communities. I remember reading somewhere that while the sleep part is helpful, what you really need is the downtime - sitting still and meditating or whatever can work just as well (from what I recall). Sleep is just the most effective way for the body to mandate the downtime.
Egret
You know about them too? Yeah. That's what made me do something about my insomnia. If I get off schedule, my sleep really suffers. I can't mess with my routine much.

Tford
I remember reading somewhere that while the sleep part is helpful, what you really need is the downtime - sitting still and meditating or whatever can work just as well (from what I recall). Sleep is just the most effective way for the body to mandate the downtime. This is true. When I battled my own round of insomnia, an hour or two of simply lying or sitting still and trying to clear your mind will do wonders in terms of your lucidity and energy level. It is hard to do, especially when your mind wants to wander but I've actually found that when the goal became to meditate for two hours, I actually fell asleep trying to meditate about half the time. The other half, you end up being refreshed. When the goal was sleeping, I would continually frustrate myself when I couldn't fall asleep. SEC=UGA
Alcohol is the solution to your problem. Lots and lots of alcohol. Also, sorry to hear about your not being able to sleep.
Controller
Sounds like there is a "sleep performance anxiety"
