Skrappy1
I read that the Pats said they wanted a first rounder for him. Couple that with the fact that he wants a new big money contract, and it's extremely unlikely that he'll get traded. Sorry I don't have time to find a link, but I read that from a couple of different sources, and at least one of them speculated that the Pats are probably just leting him explore a trade so that he can see no team is willing to give him the big contract that he is looking for quite yet. I think it's a move to get his demands down. If teams don't offer what he wants they can negotiate more fairly(in their opinion) for him. If so it may be a smart move. LooGie
You don't think NYJ would be willing to throw a fat offer on the table..There's New England blood lines there, they could use Branch..i'm fairly certain the offenses would be similar. He'll stay in NE, imo, but for alot more money than Bill wanted to pay. Branch is a perfect fit for NE, and that system is not nearly as "plug and play" as they make it out to be. CaP'N GRuNGe
The Vikings could sure use another WR now but i'm not sure they're willing to give up anything close to what the Pats are requesting. Maybe we could send a player plus a 3rd.

Unless he accpets IOUs from the NYJ team he won't be going there nor will he be invited. Jets plan on having a high draft pick and they have no salary money...they even made their star QB Pennington restructure his contract. Caveman_Nick
The thought process is believed to be that the Patriots want Branch to be able to go out and see that nobody else is willing to pay him what they are offering. He can then choose to play out his current contract or to resign for their new offer and play. His agent really bent him over.
Muggsy
I think he will stay in NE but I could also see Philly being interested.

Outshined
Sorry, but wouldn't it be prudent to recruit a QB first? EDIT: A passing QB that is? Tavaris Jackson - He has been pretty impressive so far this preseason.
Outshined
Jeez - the guy only had 998 yards and 5 td's last year. He has only broken 500 yards twice in his 4 years and never broke a 1000 or had more than 5td's. What type of money is he looking for? What happens if he has a good year? Which is why the Pats aren't looking to pony up top 5 money. Branch is also trying to get them to guarantee that if he plays the contract, that they won't franchise him next year. That will never happen.

Or any team for that matter. I think he's worth an awful lot, and worth the most to NE..but what do i know?
Chadman
Sorry, but wouldn't it be prudent to recruit a QB first? EDIT: A passing QB that is? Brad Johnson will do just fine in this offense...his backside will be protected nicely with the S Hutch, McKinnie and a returning Birk in front of him, a terrific blocking FB, and a returning Kleinsasser. They may not score a ton of points, but he should stay upright for quite a while. He's as good as most in reading a defense and making quick, safe decisions for completions, which is what this offense calls for. Jackson does look interesting thus far. Very raw, but exciting possibilities. Some bad decisions in the Raven game, but that's to be expected.
