Gdawg
ESPN reports will happen on Monday. Maybe the Steelers can get Mike Martz? Denny Green is available I am certainly no fan of the Steelers, but I have a great deal of respect for Cowher. Football will not be the same without him

budlitebrad
I can see some college program throwing a ton of money at him in the next year or two. He'll definitely be back.
Bronco Billy
They ought to keep Cowher & talk Roethlisberger into retirement...
loaf
Congrats Bill! A true class act. I'm sure the fans of Pittsburgh will miss him as will most of the other NFL cities but I'm all
Bill Swerski
That's unfortunate, as Cowher's one of the best in the business. If this is true, I'll bet that he comes back after a year or two of rest (perhaps to Dallas?). So, I wonder if Jim Tressel or Kirk Ferentz will be getting a phone call from Pittsburgh next week? Would love to see him bring the Minnesota Gophers to the next level. I know (sigh) it'll never happen.
justin
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Sheesh, I don't know where I like him less, w/ the Steelers or Wolfpack.....eh, probably the Steelers.

Bill Swerski
Ferentz maybe... I have heard Tressel is staying put though. I could see Ferentz leaving. He'll have a tough time winning a championship at Iowa with their recruiting. It also helps that Belichick sings his praises. I wouldn't doubt that Tressel stays. Ohio State finishes in the Top 25 nearly every season and has the recruiting to sustain it. The only reason that he might forego that is if he wants to prove that he can win in the pros. Savage Beatings
So what kind of approach does a new Raiders Coach need to take with the players in order to try to bring some sanity and cohesion to that group?
BeeR
lol @ "retirement." Yeah yeah.....c ya on another sideline somewhere next year Cowher. Like say Indy maybe? :wishful thinking:

Bronco Billy
Mike Tice is available. When he said "talk him off the ledge", he didn't mean, "& into thin air".
Menudo
Cowher Well, it was getting obvious that he was going to leave. I truly believe he is leaving because he wants to be with his family. He has two daughters (Jr. & Fr.) playing basketball at Princeton. He has a 3rd daughter in high school. My guess is that he will go away for a while to watch his daughters, and then will come back. He is young enough to do that. When he comes back, I expect the Steelers job to not be an option, as once Rooney makes his selection, I have no doubt that he will be loyal to it. Jobs that might have interest to Cowher are Carolina (location), Kansas City (Previous Ties), and Cleveland (Previous Ties). I think Bill Cowher is a phenomenal coach, and will be missed a great deal. He always surrounded himself with great people, which is to his credit. He was great at motivating his team and getting the best out of them. His players respect him across the board, which says a lot. As for the Steelers new coach, my $$$ is on Ken Whisenhunt, who I think will be a great head coach. Russ Grimm will also be highly considered, but, I'd be shocked if they went him. I do expect some outside interest, as the Steelers head coaching job has to be a prized one due to the Rooney's past loyalty to stay by their coach, even in rough times. Should be interesting. CaP'N GRuNGe
Mike Tice is available. Actually, I read he's in line to be promoted to the Jaguars OC position. Merry Christmas H8.
PantherDave
No way will he coach college. Way too much work for him. He will end up in Dallas, Cleveland, Carolina, Miami, or Washington. It will take big bucks too. Carolina? In what capacity?
rocknrobn26
I always liked Cowher's intensity. Reminded me of Iron Mike. I don't see him on the sidelines long, though for my $$$ he could replace Chris Collings"worthless".
