Savage Beatings
Not that there's anything wrong with that... but I haven't heard or seen anyone comment on it yet. With time running out in the 4th quarter, and no more time outs, the Redskins go for it on 4th and long... they turn the ball over on downs, and immediately Westbrook skips into the endzone untouched. Washington Redskins at 03:16 2-D.Akers kicks 65 yards from PHI 30 to WAS 5. 31-R.Cartwright to WAS 25 for 20 yards (57-C.Gocong, 81-J.Avant). WAS-83-J.Thrash was injured during the play. 1-10-WAS 25 (3:10) (Shotgun) 17-J.Campbell pass short middle to 26-C.Portis to WAS 22 for -3 yards (75-J.Thomas). 2-13-WAS 22 (2:44) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 17-J.Campbell pass incomplete deep right to 80-K.McCardell. 3-13-WAS 22 (2:36) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 17-J.Campbell pass incomplete short middle to 82-A.Randle El. 4-13-WAS 22 (2:33) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 17-J.Campbell sacked at WAS 12 for -10 yards (98-M.Patterson). FUMBLES (98-M.Patterson), RECOVERED by PHI-58-T.Cole at WAS 10. 58-T.Cole to WAS 10 for no gain (71-T.Wade). Philadelphia Eagles at 02:24 1-10-WAS 10 (2:24) 36-B.Westbrook right guard for 10 yards, TOUCHDOWN. 2-D.Akers extra point is GOOD, Center-46-J.Dorenbos, Holder-6-S.Rocca. PHI 33 WAS 25 Plays: 1 Possession: 0:06 Was it on purpose in order to get possession back right away, and still only be down by 8 points? I'm thinking it probably was... what do you think? TimC
Yes, it was obvious. I haven't seen a red sea part like that since Jesus.
Savage Beatings
Yep... nevermind, I just read this article and Westbrook confirms it. The screen play gave the Eagles a 26-25 lead. Westbrook added one more score with 2:18 to play, a 10-yard run the Redskins admitted they purposely allowed so they could get the ball back with a chance to tie. "That's exactly what they did. They allowed us to score," Westbrook said. "I wish I would have known that. I would have stopped at the 1. As an offensive player, any time you have an opportunity to get into the end zone, you get into the end zone."
Footballjoe
Yes, it was done on purpose for he reason said. Even if the Skins held the eagles to a FG there would have beenvery little time on the clock and with no TO it would have been almost impossible to move the ball down the field. Good move on the Skins IMO.
whomper
That kind of thing only usually happens when I bet the under...I remember the Packers did that in the superbowl vs Denver right ?
xMRogers
Yea, in watching the game it was pretty obvious especially on replay. Having Westbrook in two leagues, I was glad for it. I don't know if I agree with his statement - regardless of things, you get a chance to put 7 pts on the board, you do it. Another down means a chance of a fumble. Rather be up 8 with 2:18 to go then up 1 with 2:00 to go and have to run another play.

Uncle Wiggy
How many people here won or last because of this uncontested TD? I won 107-103 because of this "gift". Usually I'm on the wrong end of these weird plays.

rai
I guess there was too much time for them to take a knee? is it better for the Eagles to not take points and run some time off in that situation? keggerz
No not my point.....the Eagles are not the ones to blame....just like Westbrook was quoted as saying as an offensive player you will score if you can.....but if he knew he was going to part the red seas and just walk in he would have stopped at the 1 to run out the clock...... My point is one week the Redskins cry and say a team ran up the score on them and the next week they allow the other team to score on purpose.....living by the double edge sword are we???? i know you arent serious....but in case you are....that was the only chance they had to tie the game and possibly win it in OT
