Big John
So when do they start sitting starters or pulling them early? They are still vying for a first-round bye with the Saints closely behind.

BeeR
I'm so glad the Colts never showed any interest in persuing Harbaugh and stuck with ol deer-in-the-headlights Caldwell.

Congrats, it gives some hope to fans of teams that have sucked for many years. Clinching the divison this early is due to the rest of the teams sucking, but this isn't the Seahawks winning as an 8-8 team, the 49ers are a very good team and could challenge the other top teams in the NFC. If they played in the AFC they'd be the best team in the conference and a clear front runner for the SB.
SecondString
Niners are a good story, and nice accomplishment based on pre-season expectations. Maybe they need a little more offensive firepower to get to the promised land? Edited December 5, 2011 by SecondString
MTSuper7
Good thing you can afford to have Willis take his time to completely heal. It sucks seeing a difference making player go down like that.
jdub!
I was at the game. As a Rams fan, I'm sad. It was pretty bad. The Rams had less than 150 yards total offense, I believe ? That being said, despite despising the Niners, I'm happy for 'em this year. I hope they do the NFC West proud. Edited December 5, 2011 by jdub! Folks may expect nothing out of them but they will have an infusion of talent through drafting high and through a return of injured players. I do wonder, however, if Steven Jackson is completely used up. that would be a bit of a set back. Maybe they can get Forte, who knows. If he allows the current regime to remain in place, then it won't matter how many draft picks we get or how high they are, they WILL be wasted, just as nearly all of our high picks have on their watch. Aside from Bradford (who has regressed this year and may not be the guy we thought he was) their draft choices over the past 5-7 years have been abysmal. Bust after bust after bust. The difference with the Niners was that they were poorly coached but had good young talent. The Rams are old and almost devoid of NFL-caliber talent. This will not turn around quickly. And Steven Jackson should sue the Rams for wasting his potential Hall-of-Fame type skills for nearly a decade. Time to step up, Stan. stevegrab
Well, they did lose to the Ravens Who Steelers both time they played them, what's your point? My point is right now there is no clear cut top team in the AFC. Patriots - plenty of O but no D Texans - doing well but have a major hole at QB, and now AJ is banged up again Ravens - beat Steelers twice, but follow that with bad losses Steelers - lose twice to Ravens, but look good otherwise AFC West - nobody there is going anywhere

I don't see any evidence of that. The only time they played an elite AFC team, they were beat pretty handily. The score was 16-6, but, they never came close to winning that game. The Niners are a good team with a phenomenal defense, but, the Patriots, Texans, Ravens & Steelers are all capable of playing very good football. It's not like the NFC is much better than the AFC, they just happen to have one team that is better than everyone right now.
nelsosi
The only time they played an elite AFC team, they were beat pretty handily. Fixed. In my opinion, they have yet to beat an elite team. What is the best team they've beaten? Detroit? NYG? Cincy? The Bengals are the only ones that would even make the playoffs today.

Packers are way better than anybody else right now. And I feel the Saints are better than any of the AFC teams. My point was really that nobody is a clear front runner in the AFC, they're all tripping over each other. Sorry, I'm a Browns fan so almost any statement you make will get a knee jerk negative reaction from me. Although the Cowboyz1 simulated post on the Cowboys loss was pretty damn funny. I would agree that no one has stepped up as the clear favorite in the AFC. Right now, I think the 4 most capable of winning it, in no particular order are Ravens, Pats, Steelers & Texans (although, that would be quite a story with what they've had to overcome) However, if recent history has taught us anything, don't count out anyone that gets into the show. If you make the playoffs and get hot, you can end up holding the Lombardi trophy.
