gilthorp
Chris Carter is a moron and there probably isn't enough duck tape in the world to cover Sapp's stupid mouth either. If what he has been telling rookies is approved by the NFL and the NFLPA, it leads me to believe their approach is going to be changing real soon. http://www.brobible.com/sports/article/cris-carter-nfl-rookies-fall-guy/ The NFL can't get out of its own way of stupidity, and there's obviously no end in site. Grits and Shins
LOL ... no surprise ... the NFL is not about actually having a clean image ... just about showing the media a clean image

Wpob
I can't stand Cris Carter. There should be some sort of punishment but since ESPN just loves this guy, I doubt any is coming. What a shame. That is his idea of "good advice". Get one of your leach friends to take the fall for everything bad you do. Wonder if he told his son the same thing. IrishPride
Why is the "Truth", a bad thing? Barry Bonds had a fall guy? Listen, I don't approve of the message it sends but "Why must we be so Politically Correct?" He was talking to a demographic that is exposed to Drugs, Women, Fast Cars and Money at a very young age? We are all not perfect and most of these young men are exploited based on their talent and marketability not their, "MORALE COMPASS", Dez Bryant had team sponsored "Handlers" and a "Curfew"? Seemed to work for him, he just got paid? So NFL Adult Daycare is OK but "FALL Guy" isn't? Can you say "Hypocritical"? Just an Opinion but CC knows more about the Rookies and their trials and temptations then the suits that run these organizations, I think he was keeping it real and should have given them the canned speech that was Politically Correct....... Wow really? These kids don't need another guy to "keep it real" for them. They need guys like Cris Carter to tell them not to make these stupid decisions in the 1st place. Not only is it wrong, he is telling them to break the law. I am not naive, I understand this is the reality of it but that doesn't make it ok for him to tell them to do it. And I can't believe you are going to compare what Dez did to a fall guy. What Dez had was a legal way of trying to keep himself out of trouble. Having a fall guy is an illegal way to try and pin something you did on someone else.

How stupid was the NFL to have a video on its own website containing Cris Carter giving this advice to rookies? The statement from the NFL contained in that article is laughable and offers no explanation of how this statement which doesn't represent their message to rookies was put on their website. So Cris was chastized for saying it and didn't repeat it to the AFC group, but you thought it was a good idea to record it and post it on your web site? I don't entirely disagree with his remarks, but more along the lines of "have somebody to drive you around instead of driving drunk" or "if you smoke pot have somebody else buy it and carry it". Not feel free to crash and kill somebody then have your fall guy ready.

What I'm saying if you think Jerry Jones and whoever he hired to babysit Dez, was on the up and up and didn't cover up or sweep his mistakes up? Then you're pretty naive, Fall Guy, Handler, Mentor, Wing-man, Babysitter, Entourage, are all some sort of mechanism to defraud the public and hide their true personalities. There are Publicists, Corporate Press Department, Hell the President has a Press Secretary? All levels of insulation......So Fall guy might not have been the appropriate term but "Insulation from Public Scrutiny", Social Media and Media itself dictates different levels of protection "Insulation", I'd rather have that security if I were in their situation, If I were say using drugs or Escorts, would i want TMZ to catch me or my best friend that I had an arrangement with?I just think we all have our head in the sand, here's a couple more Clubhouse guy, Personal Assistant etc.....We know what happens on Sundays, in between the lines on the field, we don't know who these people really are? We see what they want us to see..... Edited August 24, 2015 by IrishPride

All we know is that the purpose of it was to try and keep him out of trouble. That is completely different than having a friend take the fall for you if you get in trouble. Political correctness and keeping it real have nothing to do with this IMO. What Carter told those rookies to do is flat out wrong and illegal to boot. There is nothing that can be said that makes it ok.
Alphashado
The worst part is that if you listen to Chris Carter on a regular basis (Mike & Mike etc) you will know that he carries himself with some kind of higher morale authority, and is constantly berating younger players and veteran players alike for doing stupid things off the field. This video clearly demonstrates the difference between fake CC and the real CC. I won't be able to take him seriously anymore. Ahh well. I'm no angel, so who am I to judge? Just don't pretend to be some kind of inspirational mentor when you are clearly not. That's what bugs me about it. Makes you wonder how many unfortunate dudes took "the fall" for Chris over the years. Edited August 24, 2015 by Alphashado

gilthorp
It is funny to me. Football is about understanding your role and being accountable to the team. When off the field, no accountability needed - deflect, lie, and cover up. No wonder these young men are mostly f'd in the head.

Looks more like he is a shining example of how to cover up.

Grits and Shins
He just tweeted a very well scripted apology. "Seeing that video has made me realize how wrong I was. I was brought there to educate young people and instead I gave them very...bad advice. Every person should take responsibility for his own actions. I’m sorry and I truly regret what I said that day.” Translation - Seeing that video has made me realize how wrong i was that my statements aren't really politically correct and make ME look bad. I was brought there to educate young people and instead I gave them real world advice that me and many live/lived by in the NFL that the world will perceive to be bad advice. Every person should take responsibility for his own actions when the are stupid enough not to have a fall guy. I'm sorry that some idiot found that video and I truly regret what I said that day that some bozo was recording that session and all the potential negative PR that i will have to deal with as a result.
G.K.Trey
How bout we try to tell rookies (and all young people for that matter) to do the right thing? Instead of fostering the whole you're special crap they have been receiving their whole lives. smh C.C.

Well you'll have to start very young when somebody spots that promising young athlete and decides to start giving them special treatment because they can run fast, throw a ball well etc.
