millworkguy
Absolutely senseless http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2016/04/will_smith_was_the_saints_lead.html
heehawks
I just don't understand humans sometimes. What a horrible act and I feel terrible for his wife and children. I hope his wife survives, RIP Will Smith.

stevegrab
RIP Some reports I've read indicate this was not something random, but tied to the shooter a beef with NOPD and Smith (along with former teammate Pierre Thomas) having dinner with an officer who was part of that beef. rajncajn
RIP Some reports I've read indicate this was not something random, but tied to the shooter a beef with NOPD and Smith (along with former teammate Pierre Thomas) having dinner with an officer who was part of that beef. It was just coincidence. PT and Smith attended a dinner with a cop who shot this guy's dad over 10 years ago. Why shoot somebody who had absolutely nothing to do with it? From what I've read it was a minor fender bender and a case of road rage. The only strange thing to me was that the guy stayed at the scene and was the one to call 911. rajncajn
I saw this early this afternoon and have stayed away from the boards since. It's just too hard to imagine such a great guy taken for something so stupid. I'm both angry and heartbroken. This is going to be an emotional season for sure. stevegrab
Going to be more twists and turns, I'll avoid speculating or sleuthing anymore.
rajncajn
Most of you probably don't know who this is, but the Saints/fans just lost another icon yesterday from a long battle with cancer. Hokie Gajan was a former LSU/Saints player and fan favorite who'd had a promising career cut short with knee injuries. He served as a scout for the Saints for a number of years and later went on to become the color commentator for the Saints for 16 years. By tragic coincidence, both he and Will Smith were slated to be inducted to the Saints Hall of Fame this year.
