Big John
After the Vikings Defensive TD, #29, did the leap (at home), then was flagged for unsportsman conduct for "jumping into the stands". Effects from Artest?
MikesVikes
I didn't see the leap, if he went completely into the stands, I don't know. It better be enforced consistently if it is a "new" rule! It was a defensive player so who can blame them for a little celebration when the time arises. Swashbucklers
I believe they were flagged because more than one went into the stands. I suppose that is considered pre-meditated.

Fatman
I believe it was because he was not the player who scored the TD. It was on the defenisve TD, scored by a d linemen, not #29, obviously a DB.
Guggs
What a bunch of crap. If a Packer idiot does it, it's fine, but not others I guess.

If Walker or Driver or any Packer does it at Lambeau and it's not called, then the officials in the NFL are a bunch of hypocrites.
Guggs
Anyone have any info why this was a penalty?
Kid Cid
Swashbucklers is correct, iut was because more than one person did it. In the NFL, one person can do a celebratory thing after a play and it is not considered unsportsman like. If more than one person does it, it is considered pre-meditated and subject to an unsportsman like conduct penalty. So you all can calm down now, there is not an "Anti-Minnesota" bias in the NFL. Fatman has it right. Brian Williams, the Vikes CB jumped into the stands, even though it was Kevin Williams that scored the TD. Believe me, after running 77 yards there was NO WAY the 311 pound Kevin Williams was jumping anywhere. Guggs
Only 1 player jumped into the stands.
Swashbucklers
The player that jumped into the stands was not the player that scored the TD. Everyone is correct because it was a TD celebration that involved more than one person. There would have been two players in the stands had Williams not passed out shortly after scoring. They should have planned it accordingly and Williams should have handed it or lateralled it to the DB, then he could have jumped into the stands and not gotten a penalty. That's all coaching though, and yet another reason Mike Tice is an idiot.

HighKite
If they did not enforce some kind of rule on celebrations you would have 40 guys on the field doing the worm everytime someone scored.
