I'm really proud of Pittsburgh.

I am a resident of the City of Pittsburgh.

After the Super Bowl the streets were filled with screaming fans.  There were plenty of major streets with outrageous numbers of people out celebrating.  The noise up my way didn't stop until well after 2am.

Yesterday there were a quarter million people clogging the streets of downtown Pittsburgh.  There were cars strewn everywhere and no matter where you looked there were terrible towel waving fans making their way to town.

Considering what happens when other cities win championships then realizing that so far as I know there were two cars overturned and about 30 total arrests the night of the Super Bowl, I am amazed. Not one single problem, other than the amount of people, at the parade that they are saying had a quarter of a million people attend.  I have got to give the Pittsburgh fans a hugh :D

Are there other cities out there that have won major championships and not burned the town down?  I have to admit that I was really expecting things to be out of control but in the end it was all good, IMO.

That was also a long time ago. :D:D

We must be doing something right as in the last year and a half we've hosted the Ryder Cup, MLB All-Star Game and the Super Bowl. We also will be hosting the NCAA Final Four in 2009. :D

70,000-plus for a Final Four? Ford Field shows it's possible

By Steve Wieberg | Apr 1, 2005

When NCAA officials looked in on the largest crowd ever to attend a basketball game -- the more than 78,000 who watched Kentucky beat Michigan State at Detroit's Ford Field almost 16 months ago -- they were surprised.

Sightlines from distant seats weren't terrible. Jumbo video screens and other modern technology helped. Fans seemed satisfied.

And so the association, which went exclusively to 30,000-capacity or better domes for the Final Four in 1997, is taking a preliminary look at even larger facilities and more liberal configurations that could widen access to the event.

"Going up into what would be determined as the undesirable seats and looking at those sightlines and comparing them to, say, the 25,000th or 40,000th seat in some of the other facilities we've been in," NCAA executive vice president Tom Jernstedt says, "we were astonished at how attractive (they've) become. They've become desirable seats.

Doesn't make up for booing Larry Brown.

That mofo deserves the boos. He's a snake, but very adept at not portraying one in the media. What kind of coach makes it known that the Knicks are his dream job while his current team is in the playoffs? Once he said that, his bed was made. Bill Davidson looked at that as a slap in the face which is was.

I appreciate that he got us over the hump (although I believe that should be attributed more to the addition of Rasheed Wallace).

Good riddance...

Oh, did we boo one of your poor Cowboys at some point.  Don't remember that.

Well at least I got that rant about the coach off of my chest.

Congrats for being the only one in the greater Windsor Metro Area not to have been brainwashed by your dirty neighbors to the south. :D
