TheGrunt
How is juco treating you? The less a President is able to do the better off he'll look? So if the President sleeps for four years, he'll be greater than George Washington, using yer super duper logic. JFK would be a Republican? You do realize you look like an idiot when you talk about a lifelong Democrat from a preeminent Democratic family and you claim he's secretly magically a Republican, right? I mean, you dont really buy this stuff yer regurgitating, do you? Bush went on the offensive in Iraq because we were a target, huh? Think a little more broadly and less literally. Of course, there were some pre-9/11 who viewed us as a target. And we went after them briefly with the whole world behind us. Pre-9/11, America was a target of Al Qaeda. Post-Iraq, we are an isolated reviled nation viewed by the world as an illegal imperialist occupier and a target of many as our acts swell the ranks of our enemies and we create enemies where none existed before. Crap, the British are trying to get away from us so quickly they are lying about how Basra is pacified just so they can yank their troops out of Iraq. You understand why Pat Tillman and his brother, both Rangers who fought in Afghanistan, thought the Iraq invasion was illegal and strategically stupid, right? I am not suggesting you agree with their reasoning, but you know why they thought that, right? If a President, for four years, sparred with the opposing political party--who control Congress--and not much is able to come out of that Presidential term then I'm all for it. Just as long as the bills already set in place lean towards the Republican side. Based on JFK's political views he would be a Republican today. Yes. I have a feeling you read the BBC news, which could be the reason you are so uptight about how the world views us. To be honest, aside from the obvious who already hated us (terrorists), there is absolutely nothing any of those countries (the more civilized countries that are not third world types) will do to us. If they do, then we'll f'k 'em up. And they know it. Other than that, why care so much about what others think about us?

Why bother even having a government if all we hope for is that they just stalemate? Are you that convinced that we've completely got this thing so nailed down that, regardless of how the needs of a nation evolve, there should be no change what-so-ever to public policy? I'll give you this, I think it is typically better for the nation as a whole that neither of the two parties control both branches so neither can just run amok like what happened recently with Capitan dumbass and his band of merry screw-offs. That said, these two should keep each other in check not dig in and prevent anything from happening. #2) The only thing about this statement that has any merit, I suppose is the fact that it is basically impossible to even say what "Republican today" means. Thus, you can pretty much label a whole lot of people republican. Figure it out. Republicans are for fiscal responsibility, right? Hmm, not exactly it seems. Republicans are for smaller government and more personal freedoms, right? Hmm, not exactly it seems. Should I go on? #3) This is the doozy. You speak as if we are imminently at war with the entire world, so I suppose I can understand why you have such a backward view of getting along with other countries. What will they do to us? Are you that knee jerk? Believe me, I'm not worried about Belgium launching an attack on us if we continue to act like a-holes. It's just a whole lot easier to get things done if you don't insist upon swimming upstream all the time. Also, only a complete idiot "just stays the course" when essentially everyone else alive tries to tell him it's a stupid idea. It's like the person who thinks that every driver on the road but him is horrible because he's always getting in a wreck. At some point, you've got to look in the mirror and decide if what you're doing is right. In the real world, guys who fail to do this end up sleeping in boxes on the street because everyone says to hell with them. The US is still the most powerful country in the world, but guys like you are under the delusional notion that this power is endless. That we can simply decide what we want to do and do it without consequence. I hate to break it to you, but that is simply not the case. If we're so almighty, why is Iraq still a rat-f@#&? That we can simply decide what we want to do and do it without consequence. I hate to break it to you, but that is simply not the case. If we're so almighty, why is Iraq still a rat-f@#&? 1. I didn't mean for literally nothing to get done during a Presidents stay at the white house, however, I can see how you took it that way. What I meant to point out is that for a 'true' majority of our nation to be happy with whoever is the President (Republican or Democrat), then it only makes sense for the majority of Congress to be the opposite political party as that of the President. This isn't, however, such a bad thing when it is all Republican. But, my fear is that someone like Hillary Clinton gets elected President ( ) AND a majority of Congress be elected Democrat. While this might satisfy most Democrats (short term), it scares me just to think of what this women would do with all of the power she would have. Especially if Congress will have no difficulty accepting or passing whatever she wants. She will probably get us as close to a Socialist country that she can possibly do in a four year term. I guarantee by the time those four years are up more than 80% of the country will be begging for Republicans to fix our economy and straighten out the mess Hillary will put us in... IF indeed she is actually elected President. 1.b. Same were true if a Republican is elected President. While I have no problem with a Republican Congress and Republican President, I'm pretty sure there are a few Democrats out there who'll have issues with this. So what I meant by a President getting 'nothing done' is that it might be a 'fair' balance to have opposing political parties control Congress and the Presidency. That's what the whole "checks and balances" for politics is all about. 2. All I can say to that is I am all for a smaller government (less taxes, more money that I earn in my pocket), and for more personal freedoms. But I do see your point. There's always a mild-conservative, mild-democrat, strong-republican, etc... 3. The main reason I brought up how the world "hates" us is because skins showed me a weakness of his: he has a bleeding heart and hates to know that other people around the world dislike him simply because he is an American. If you don't believe skins, just read the BBC news! ...speaking of which I dropped a college course in English at the beginning of this school term because we were "required" to read the BBC news, and we'd have a weekly quiz based on articles taken from the BBC news (my instructor was a British-liberal). I can't stand the BBC news because it's a bunch of liberal garbage that routinely bashes on the U.S..
