So who should I vote for?

19 members have voted

  1. 1. French presidential elections:

    • Nicola Sarkozy. Right wing candidate (which in france means Kennedyesque) All of the self importance of Giuliani, the cronyism of Bush, petulance of Cheney
      12
    • Segolene Royal. Very old school socialist. Policy equivalent to Dennis Kucinich. Definitley would do her.

For a mother of four, that's pretty good. here

I do think that Royal's policies are really bad for France (in her top 10 most important policies for france is getting the government to pay for people's security deposits when trying to rent apartments). But Sarkozy has been really divisive in france. Expect Paris to burn for a few days if he is elected.

I was there for the primaries. It was interesting. Considering that the third and fourth candidates were both righties, I think Sarkozy's got it in the bag. No one I talked to seemed to think much of Mrs. Gauche Caviar.

Yeah. Pretty good analysis.

I voted for Bayrou in the first round. Guy's a tool, but I remembered that you really should not vote for the guy that would be fun to have a beer with, but the guy whose policies you beleive in.

Which one is pro-American and will support us in protecting little insignificant countries like France?

Why do we have to keep protecting them!!! Every time someone attacks them, they immediately throw up the :D , and stay pompus about it.

I personally have a strong dislike the Frenchies, granted, I've been working for a French owned company for the last 13 years, and can't wait to quit!!! :D

We need an emotocon of an ostrich smiley face with his head stuck in the sand.

Sarkozy will win this going away. Even the French have realized that their cradle to grave welfare state is unsustainable especially with the other Euro countries modernizing their economies successfully. They also are worried to death about the Muslims in their midst - Sarkozy calling them "scum" didn't harm him at all.

One other thing - notice how they manage to have an election in about six weeks, tops? Compare and contrast to the ridiculous extravaganza here. Also, they do not allow opinion polls in the last week of the election and they have no campaigning the day before voting. All good stuff, IMO.

And Royal coming out in the last week or so and warning that if people elected Sarkozy there would be rioting (although it is sort of emblematic of French attitudes over the past few decades) probably hurt her because I think French attitudes are changing.

On election night, scattered violence was reported across France. Police reported that 270 people were taken in for questioning and that 367 parked vehicles had been torched. On a typical night in France, about 100 cars are burned.

wth? Gets hot in the summer, thousands die.

100 cars burned a night?

State mandated employment rules?

And you're proud of these failures?
