rajncajn
For many seasons I've thought about starting an office fantasy league, but I never thought I could get enough people and even if I could I didn't think it would be very competitive. Finally this year someone else has taken up the torch & spent the time & effort to get enough people for a 10 team league. Me & Hitman being the resident fantasy football nuts we of course obliged. As of right now these are our current teams with 4 rounds to go. Tell me if we should feel guilty. rajncajn Swamp Thing 1. (3) Steven Jackson 2. (18) Brian Westbrook 3. (23) Laurence Maroney 4. Tford
Last year's office league, a snapshot of the team drafted R1 R Moss R2 T Owens ( not that bad I guess ) R3 David Akers R4 Bucs DST After those picks, he sets it to auto draft and ends up with Dom Davis and CuMar for RBs. Thinking that I am good with my RBs (Chester, SA, Gore, KJ), I try to be a nice guy and help him out with the wire to nab some decent guys. It's week 1 and I figure that MJD may take enough carries to pick up a couple points. ....
Sturphy
Well, 5 years ago, my work league was like that. I believe my team that year was something like: Alexander, Portis, Owens, Moss, etc. It was ugly. FOR THEM. haha Of course my early years of stomping created some angst, but at least everyone hung in there and had fun. Now there's only 1 or 2 that aren't paying much attention, but know enough to hit up ESPN :-P for their rankings. (No WAY I'm telling them about thehuddle). That work league is my favorite league despite the first two years or so of lopsidedness because everyone talks smack anyway, and stayed with it, and the stakes were never anything more than a week full of jawing. One of the teams this year is named: "Don't Hurt Us". haha

I guess that's why we all have more than just our work league. It's a different bond when you play with coworkers. Especially if you're lucky like me and work with great people. Puddy
I bailed on some leagues this year to lessen my load, but today I was approached by the VP of Marketing to get in an office league. I had to oblige just for the comraderie if nothing else. I'm guessing it will go a lot like yours. Edit: I also work with another Huddler fat3anthony who is getting in as well. We expect to be in the fantasy bowl. 5 User(s) are reading this topic (1 Guests and 0 Anonymous Users) 4 Members: Puddy, fat3anthony, Tford, rajncajn Edited August 8, 2007 by Puddy
rajncajn
i actually prefer leagues that are more competitive as i find it to be a lot more fun. I'm down to 4 leagues from 7. The one's I kept were my two long-standing & well respected full IDP Dynasty Leagues as well as a full redraft IDP. Among the one's I quit was my local league that had been running since 1997 because many of the guys in the league had become uninterested & it was no longer very competitive nor fun. I joined the office league, as Puddy put it "for the comraderie" and nothing else aside from the chuckle I get out of the horrible picks that are made. loaf
we've had an office league for I think 5 years now. I've always come in second. even with talent akin to your's and hitman's. I wouldn't be so sure of yerselves just yet. And I know that QBs go early when Noobs are involved but hitman only having Kitna is a travesty. Unless you get bonuses for having as many INTs as TDs

There are about 5 teams that are head & shoulders above the rest and any one of us could win, but you never know this can be anybody's game. In my local I've had teams that were so ridiculously stacked end up go one & out in the playoffs.

rajncajn
Some interesting side notes: 1. Tom Brady went 1st overall 2. Jay Cutler was the 3rd QB off the board at 1.7 3. Colston was the 1st WR taken followed shortly by Moss. Both in the early 2nd round. 4. Chad Johnson, Torry Holt & Reggie Wayne made it to round 3 5. Priest Holmes went in round 4 6. Vinatieri was the first kicker taken at 7.1, I took the first defense (chicago) at 7.3 7. I took my first QB (McNabb) at the end of round 8 & my 2nd (Leinart) at the start of round 11. 8. We can start 3 Rbs yet I was able to pick up Marshawn Lynch in the 9th round. I had trouble deciding between him, Norwood & Adrian Peterson. 9. Lamont Jordan is still available as well...would it be wrong of me to carry 5 RBs?
The Wolf
9. Lamont Jordan is still available as well...would it be wrong of me to carry 5 RBs? Somwhow, I don't quite think that wrong is the right word there...
Hitman
but hitman only having Kitna is a travesty. We're not finished yet. There are still guys like A. Smith, Delhomme, Pennington, Grossman, McNair, Schaub, etc.... available for my second QB. This has been a funny draft, but like some have said....you never know. Crazy and unpredictable drafting by some of these guys has made it interesting. We did join this league just for the banter and comradare. The "commish" is a total n00b, but his team isn't really too bad. Now, if we can just get him to fix the playoffs to not run in weeks 16-17. All in all, I definitely like mine or rajn's chances to say the least. Edited August 8, 2007 by Hitman
Savage Beatings
Carry 5 RBs. They should be punished for their ignorance. You can use your complete dominance this season to not only humiliate your co-workers and take their women, but also vault yourself to the legendary status of the office FF God. Maybe a little wiser and eager to kick yer butt. I suppose that's really what brings me back to my work league. Everyone still has fun and every year they get better. There's definitely a challenge in owning a league for a couple years and then trying to maintain your dominance (and trashtalking). It ain't easy if people got a brain in dey heads. Spartans91
I don't think I could even enjoy this type of draft/league. I am frustrated simply reading about Brady and Cutler in the 1st and Lynch in the 9th. I crave competition. I would rather lose to a well-put together team than walk to a title in a weak league - I take no joy in that. I am only in one league though, for this reason.
