Wow - NFL is serious about their drug policy

They even suspend coaches!

NEW YORK (AP) - Dallas quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson, a former NFL quarterback, was suspended for five games by the NFL on Saturday for buying and using performance-enhancing substances.

Wilson said he took the drugs to try to improve the quality of his life after living with diabetes for more than 20 years.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said both Wilson's suspension and the suspension Friday of New England safety Rodney Harrison stemmed from the investigation by the Albany (N.Y.) district attorney's office. Authorities there have been looking into an Internet ring involving performance-enhancing drugs and allegedly involving athletes from a number of sports.

Aiello said the third NFL person involved in the investigation was Dr. Richard Ryzde, one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' team doctors. He had earlier been fired by the team.

Someone on ESPN ( Clayton? Mort?) said last night that no other NFL players will be named in this case...

Is this the same ESPN that reported Vick would never be charged with anything related to dog fighting?

The same ESPN that reported Portis had suffered a season ending broken ankle during training camps a couple of years back?

Personally, and even as a Bears fan, I find it more disturbing a coach would be bringing that into his life, regardless of reasoning. And if he did, he most certainly should have notified the league as to what he was up to, prior to his taking them. I hope no Bears are implicated, but if they are they should get strung out. There's no place for that.

Given that he was only found out through investigation I have to assume they might find some in Bears players, and perhaps other Patriots. This could get ugly. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
