BillyBalata
You get Sugarman and the Vikings medical staff,Im sure they are the top of their profession. Why bother getting a second opinion for his own safety,no other players ever do. So...did you read the entire thread from the beginning...or just jumping into it in the middle? This thread is about some Doc, who happens to be in Florida, who the Pioneer Press for cripes sake, contacted to get his opinion on what AP should do. The freakin Pioneer Press had to call Florida to find a doc that would disagree with what the Vikings medical staff had to say. Whats that tell ya, when they got the Mayo Clinic a little over an hour south they could have drove down and asked but the nearest doc they could find is in Florida. Bill Swerski
Question for some of you folks: Would you accept a prescription, advice, treatment, or better yet surgery from a physician whom had never seen your test results, whom hadn't spoken to your doctors, and whom you had NEVER met or been examined by??? Yes. Back when she was in high school, my sister got some very good off-the-record advice about a bone condition in her ankle from the head trainer of the White Sox. Question for you: After hearing AP's diagnosis, who do you think is going to offer a more objective public opinion of his rehabilitation time, an independent specialist or a doctor who works for the Vikings? Ursa Majoris
[devilsadvocate] lets say the eagles are out of playoff contention, should they shut down Westbrook for the year because he is their offense and if he were to get hurt he wouldnt be ready for week 1 next yr [/devilsadvocate] edit: better example: [devilsadvocate] should the niners just shut down frank gore so he doesnt get hurt(or do more damage to an ailing ankle) and they have him healthy to start the season next yr [/devilsadvocate] Neither Westy nor Gore have a torn ligament that could snap completely if stressed, jeopardizing a career. The Vikings are 3-6 and even in the NFC, they have to know their playoff hopes are remote. Also, they have a very serviceable RB in Chester Taylor so IMO, risking Peterson in what will likely be a series of nothing games would be outright lunacy. Were you watching around the horn?Thats the same thing Cowlisell just said about the Mayo clinic almost word for word. I dont know the docs at the Mayo clinic and I have no idea who else (if anybody) the pioneer called ,do you? xtra
What is a 2+? Grade 1: Some tenderness and minor pain at the point of the injury. This means there have been small tears in the ligament. Grade 2: Noticeable looseness in the knee (the knee opens up about five millimeters) when moved by hand. There is major pain and tenderness on the inner side of the knee as well as swelling. This means there have been larger tears in the ligament, but it is not completely torn. Grade 3: Considerable pain and tenderness at the inner side of the knee; some swelling and marked joint instability. The knee opens up slightly less than half an inch when moved. A grade 3 LCL tear means the ligament is completely torn. There may also be a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament

Visions of the movie Any Given Sunday dancing around in my brain. I'd be a wee bit leery of just getting advice from Viking docs and no 2nd opinion if I were AP. I Actually no, I wasn't. But I do live less then a mile from Mayo. I did get home in time to catch part of PTI, and they were talking about current players out there who don't even have their LCL anymore. Listen....you guys can go ahead and put as much validity into this report as you want. Myself, I'm going to treat it the same as any other report that comes from the Pioneer Press. As garbage. Hines Ward doesn't have an ACL in his right knee. Does that mean that he could play halfback effectively?

Well it's a good thing that Adrian has one of those. Two in fact.
giantsfan
To me the bottom line is this. The guy has some sort of tear in his knee. With that said I can't see him back for 4 weeks minimum. And considering he is their future you have to wonder if it's worth it. My opinon is he is back for the last 3 games or so. Yep.....As a transplanted long suffering viking fan since the days of joe kapp..... I certainly hope they shelf him for the year. There hasn't been this kind of excitement @ the RB position in miney since the days of chuck foreman. I also own him in ZERO of my 7 leagues. TheShiznit
Hines Ward doesn't have an ACL in his right knee. Does that mean that he could play halfback effectively? I didn't think it was possible to not have an ACL and still be able to have any stability in your knee to do anything. Are you sure about this or did I just fall for a bit of sarcasm!!!! Jimmy Hitchcock played 10+ years at DB without an ACL in EITHER knee!!
