ebartender
Well they can't keep Sheppard with the money they spent on Samuel and Lito is unhappy with the money he is making. There is no way he would go for playing nickle back at this point. The 1st round pick is nice, but the Eagles rarely play their rookies anyway. Why not get someone who can help the tema right now. McNabb, Runyan, William Thomas, Dawkins, etc. are not getting any younger.

Bronco Billy
A lot to sacrifice for an aging WR IMO... Holt is clearly an elite WR, and WRs can maintain elite skills to around 35-36 years of age & be effective even longer than that - what they lose a bit as a physical edge in raw skills, they gain in savvy. Since PHI is dead set on parting ways with Sheppard, this is a great deal for them. Holt & Curtis were dynamic as a team when Bruce was hurt in STL, no reason they can't do the same under Reid with McNabb throwing the ball. However, not saying this isn't true, but did anyone see the source that reported this story in that link? He was a newbie to that site and was getting bashed like crazy for posting this news. I'm a little hesitant to believe it but it certainly would make sense for Philly. Edited March 4, 2008 by irish

The Wolf
So...IF this rumor turns out to be true, and after cutting Bruce last week, the Rams now have the following as their WR's: 89 Looker, Dane WR 6-0 194 5/5/76 7 Washington 82 Hall, Dante WR 5-8 187 9/20/78 8 Texas A&M 15 Hagans, Marques WR 5-10 205 12/29/82 1 Virginia 19 Stanley, Derek WR2 5-11 179 8/27/85 R Wisconsin-Whitewater 16 Williams, Brandon WR2 5-11 183 2/24/84 2 Wisconsin 83 Bennett, Drew WR2 6-5 206 8/26/78 7 UCLA If they address the O-line as they are expected to, who the heck is gonna catch the ball for them? Avernus
also if the Eagles wouldn't even give a 1st and Lito for Fitz,...why would they do this for Holt who is on the downswing of his career..??????

Avernus
http://blastmagazineblogs.com/sports/2008/...-receiver-hunt/ this is the same source that said the Eagles have Asante a few hours before FA hit...and he also mentioned Eagles pursuing Fitz and also how Andy Reid was on the phone with Moss all morning when he signed with the Pats... A source close to the situation, the same person that broke the Asante Samuel signing to OTR and GCobb.com, has confirmed that the Eagles will seek Roy Williams or Chad Johnson in a trade. The source told us to expect the Eagles to bring in a big name wide receiver this offseason. Asante Samuel was number one on the list and a big name receiver was a close number two. The Eagles are currently sitting tight awaiting to hear about the Larry Fitzgerald negotiations, but they will also seek Roy Williams or Chad Johnson if the Fitzgerald deal seems unlikely. This confirms earlier reports by OTR that the Eagles are indeed loading up for a run. Eagles fans should be very excited that the Eagles organization is ready to take the team to the next level. Pieces are being put in place and hopefully all goals will be accomplished this offseason so the Eagles can make a Super Bowl run. fanofnobody
Anyone trading for Holt at this point would be doing it for an immediate SB run. Holt said a couple of weeks ago that he only plans on playing a couple more years.

Guest Chappy
Holt For Sheppard Not True The rumor that the Eagles are thinking of trading CB Lito Sheppard for Rams WR Torry Holt is not true. Now that the Eagles have shown they are looking for an elite receiver, rumors are flying that the Eagles are willing to trade Sheppard, picks and more for one. While Holt still has some gas left in the tank, his injury concerns and age are starting to bump him down to a lower-tier WR1, or an upper-tier WR2. | March 07, 2008 2:06 PM STLtoday.com. but can't find the link. Guest Chappy
a #2 WR. Bruce was a #1 WR only in name. I think they meant in terms of fantasy value not in terms of starting value for an NFL team.
