ts
twice now FWP has lined up at QB and ran. once for a couple and once for 0. Maybe the Steelers think that Parker will at least be able to get a nice view of the end zone from the QB position, since he sure couldn't find it very often last year. Menudo
I'll post more after the game, but, basically, the defense looked great, the offensive line is AWFUL !!!!! Also, Mendenhall is not ready for a large portion of snaps yet, so, Willie Parker will be a steal at his ADP. Lawrence Timmons will be a superstar. The guy is a beast. gilthorp
Mendenhall will be a solid fantasy option later in the year. The kid is learning, but he's a pure RB.
i_am_the_swammi
until the O-line resembles even a college team, I'm downgrding and staying away from any Steelers. Why would I want Parker even in the 7th or 8th round, knowing his line will often be 15 carries for 40 yards? That offense performed above their heads last year, and this year, will likely perform below expectations.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Parker will be a stud, but, his ADP is extremely low. I think he will out-perform that easily. I still think the Steelers passing game produces due to Ben's mobility and necessity. Ben was sacked a ton last year, but, still put up great numbers. You are right though, there is reason for concern if this offensive line does not improve.
Menudo
Mendenhall will be a solid fantasy option later in the year. The kid is learning, but he's a pure RB. I really don't think so. I think he will eventually be good, but, it may be two years until he contributes in a big way. I hope I am wrong and you are right though. He did show his talent in the 2nd half, but, against the Vikings 1st team, the difference between he and Parker was evident. Parker knows how to get low and get yardage when there isn't much there.....Mendenhall still hasn't figured that part out yet. With this O-line, there aren't going to be a lot of gaping holes to run through.

MikesVikes
Mendenhall can catch, is physical, and is fast enough for the league. Don't close the door on the kid just yet, imo.
Menudo
Mendenhall can catch, is physical, and is fast enough for the league. Don't close the door on the kid just yet, imo. The 2nd half was definitely his best performance this pre-season. He shows his awesome talent when there is a little bit of room to run. On one run, he even bounced outside and made a big gain when nothing was there. Now, he needs to learn to hold onto the ball.
MonkeyOne
Lawrence Timmons will be a superstar. The guy is a beast. What sort of tackle numbers do you foresee?
Savage Beatings
Vikings D was #1 against the run last year. Even the league's best RB's could struggle, so give Mendenhall a little bit of a break in this performance. He'll definitely have to work on protecting the football though, because most coaches won't trust a rookie with much playing time if they have that tendency. I agree that FWP will outperform his ADP this year.
BeeR
? Except for 1 run he didn't exactly tear it up vs the Viking scrubs.
MikesVikes
? Except for 1 run he didn't exactly tear it up vs the Viking scrubs. I did see Mendenhall's big carry and I saw one of his fumbles as well. But I didn't even see much of the second half of the game. The dude is a beast and has talent to boot. I don't need a preseason game to tell me that. Plus if a rookie doesn't tear it up in the preseason doesn't exclude him from being a player in the league, imo. BeeR
If I had a nickel for every time some guy came out of college with raves about their talent who never made it........... Not saying that will happen and I know pre-season should be taken with a pretty big grain of salt, but I'll take what I saw playing vs NFL teams (and that was largely scrubs to boot) over what he did vs Northwestern, or whatever. He's IMO show little to be conclude that he'll take a ton of carries away from parker. Edited August 24, 2008 by BeeR
