Bronco Billy
DEN signed Chris Simms for a 2 yr, $6M contract Friday. This is right after Cutler announced that the home he bought in 2006 for $1.34M is on the market for $2M. First, the response to the Cutler home sale announcement: There's no way in hell that he'll get anywhere close to $2M for a house he bought in 2006 for $1.34M in the DEN market right now. If he were really fortunate, he might gey $1M in today's market. That's a really poorly played bluff. Secondly, if McDaniels trades Cutler and installs the imminently talentless Simms at QB, I will officially resign my fanship for the Broncos and will actively root against them for the McDaniels/Xanders tenure in DEN. Savage Beatings
Cutler might get lucky and find a wealthy Broncos fan who would over pay for the home just to say that he bought Jay Cutler's house. Kinda like George Costanza buying JoHn Voight's car.

Now that Cutler has formally requested a trade, this is looking more and more likely. Oh well... this was fun while it lasted. Since I follow the Lions and Broncos both, I am interested to see if Cutler ends up in Motown. I can't see the Broncos settling for just picks, but now they are at a disadvantage because they will have to move him somehow unless he has a change of heart. Bronco Billy
Den was what, 17-20 with Cutler? Dude so far has been all sizzle, no steak. I expected an educated response from you. Check out his record when his D manages to play even mediocre. The way he'd manage to rally his team late in games reminded me somewhat of a young Favre/Elway. Unfortunately, if he left 1:00 or more on the clock, give or take, the D didn't have the ability to stop anyone and preserve a W.
Bronco Billy
Does everyone really think Simms is that bad? Only those who know anything about football. Simms career: 59.1% comp pctg. 12 pass TDs/17 INTs 6.3 ypa 10.6 ypc 154.7 pass ypg 71.2 QB rating Just to put these numbers into some kind of perspective, let's see how they pan out for last year's QB (Stats based minimum 100 pass attempts, which is 41 QBs) - 59.1% comp pctg.tied for 27th 12 pass TDs/17 INTs 0.71 ratio tied for 37th 6.3 ypa 34th 10.6 ypc 36th 154.7 pass ypg 38th 71.2 QB rating 35th AND his rating dropped from 81.4 to 46.3 from his second year to his third. He started off his third year in the league by throwing 1 TD vs 7 INTs along with other atrocious stats in every significant passing category before he got hurt. In fact, he showed a significant decline in every single significant passing stat from 2005 to 2006 except PAypg - in other words, he regressed substantially in gaining the extra year of experience. Simms doesn't play QB well enough to be drawing any kind of paycheck at the NFL level, much less a starter's pay. Watching GB this year, I certainly had to do my share of "what did you want Rodgers to do, play DE?" arguments for his "reponsibility" for losses. You're usually way on top of this stuff. As to GB - imagine being a fan of both DEN & GB and knowing that neaither D last year could possibly stop the opposing team if the game was on the line and there was even 45 seconds left on the clock. Freakin' miserable. I'd rather watch Bears' football - Edited March 17, 2009 by Bronco Billy
