Double Agent
Which would be consistent with the plane being struck by lightning, breaking apart and eventually brusting into flames (as the article and expert states). No one, in any report or eyewitness testimony, thinks it was a bomb...well, except dmarc and H8tard. Absolutely. But it also contradicts France's previous assumption that the oil slick indicated surface break-up. Terrorism was the last thought on my mind. I think it's a possibility, but not likely. Pope Flick
Wow, you have really done your home work on this one! Those systems must be so failure prone, so rinky dink rigged, I am sure it is likely we'll see this happen at least a few more times per day from here on out. Pope, please, go to washington, we need you to spread the news!!!! Me thinks you need to go examine how many 'fly by wire' planes are in service, and what their track record is. Hint, it's a lot, and it's better that the mechanical counterpart. I don't like it either, but it's the truth. The truth is I am correct and your histrionics over my stating fact is HUGHmorous. I know you and dmarc would prefer to blame this on someone other than weather or perhaps design, but oh well.... The Airbus flight system will be examined again; some pilots distrust the Airbus family’s heavy reliance on computers (last October a Qantas A330 went into a 600ft dive over the Indian Ocean when the automatic pilot disconnected itself). H8tank
Wow, a plan dropped 600'? AMAZING! And to think, I didn't even KNOW airplanes could do that, and I used to fly them! Why don't you compare how many crashes have been caused by fly wire vs. pilot error.

BillyBalata
I just don't understand why you people can't even consider the possibility of a bomb? What has conditioned you to this? I have a guess you little sheep... Here...let me explain it for you. Please read slowly so you don't get lost This plane, it crashed. For about 24 hours pretty much every news report talked about how 14 mins before there was trouble they went thru a storm. Pretty much every report talked about a storm. For 24 hours, no news report ever mentioned a bomb. The next day, dmarc, the negative ned of all negative neds, said...you know, it could have been a bomb. The rest of us....decided to stick with all the news reports we read for the last 24 hours and not follow Chicken Little down his yellow brick road. Then late yesterday this H8 guy posted a link where some nerd explored several aspects of what may have happened, and this nerd came to the conclusion that while many planes had flown thru storms before without problem, this time, it appears that weather was indeed probably a factor. So even though all the evidence says....somehow the weather seems to have caused this.....we should all keep an open mind, cuz this could have been one of those weather bombs! You convinced me! wiegie
I just don't understand why you people can't even consider the possibility of a bomb? of course we would consider the possibility of a bomb if there were actual reasons to think that a bomb brought down the plane

Avernus
Ball lightning maybe? (Yes, from a James Rollins book. ) I've seen a ball of lightning before....it was during class in gradeschool... I looked out the window during a thunderstorm and for about a full second or longer there was a circular bubble of electricity or whatever and lightning struck down from where it was... it was amazing... TimC
This post made my testicles itch. You got some poison ivy on 'em? Pour some warm water in the shower and it'll feel like 18 Asian girls slowly stroking your balls. Absolutely fantastic. Hook a brutha up with some extra poison ivy. I've lost that loving feeling. This storm was not out of the ordinary. Planes usually don't just fall out of the sky. AND FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME, I AGREE THE WEATHER IS THE #1 SCENARIO, BUT THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMETHING ELSE CANNOT BE RULED OUT!!!!
