Unfortunately, that's the next step: one of them gets shot and killed trying to stop a mugging, then some start carrying guns. Of course I have no problem with a guy shooting another guy to protect a woman for being raped, or even a cigarette like you being rolled. ETA: These guys are freak'n nuts. Now give me a Stetson, a good pair of Justins, a Mexican blanket with a hole cut in it, a bandanna, and some nice gun leather and a smoke wagon and I'm there.
