MikesVikes
Continental Airlines is reporting a pilot on an international flight bound for Newark, N.J., has died in-flight. The cause of death is unknown. The jet, a Boeing 777, was coming in from Europe. Former airline pilot Paul McCarthy said the safety of the flight is not at risk. dmarc117
The Port Authority says the co-pilot took control of the plane, along with a passenger who is a pilot. Passengers are reportedly not in any immediate danger.
MikesVikes
The thing that is very eery about this is that I heard or read something just yesterday about Payne Stewart. He died 10 years ago on October 25th while in flight.
dmarc117
The plane landed safely just before noon.

The Wolf
That's sad...and a little unsettling to think that it can happen in mid-flight. As stated in the article, however, there are two in the cockpit and both can handle the plane properly. Some times, you have to have a little faith in people. The Wolf
Excuse me, does anybody speak jive? Captain Oveur: You ever been in a cockpit before? Joey: No sir, I've never been up in a plane before. Captain Oveur: You ever seen a grown man naked?
SeductiveNun
The thing that is very eery about this is that I heard or read something just yesterday about Payne Stewart. He died 10 years ago on October 25th while in flight. Yes, but that was a completely different set of circumstances. On Payne Stewart's flight, the plane lost cabin pressure and everyone on that plane had died before the plane even went down.
MojoMan
I wonder if the first officer got an immediate promotion to captain?

MikesVikes
I wonder if the first officer got an immediate promotion to captain? Maybe he should've asked for a raise?
MikesVikes
Yes, but that was a completely different set of circumstances. On Payne Stewart's flight, the plane lost cabin pressure and everyone on that plane had died before the plane even went down. But it was similar in that the press broke the story while the plane was still in the air. I just heard that in today's flight, most of the people on the plane weren't aware of the incident. Not sure if I would want to know if I were on the plane.
H8tank
Terrorism, no doubt about it. If the pilot had a gun this never woulda happened.
Retrograde assault
Don't most overseas flights have a spare pilot riding along with the passengers? I know at least one of mine did.
FWmaker
Listen, I've BEEN to Newark! I think the pilot took the only logical course of action.
