It goes both ways though.

Insurance is regulated at the state level except for the National Flood Insurance program supported by the federal government.

That's not exactly true, at least not any more.

Health insurance is currently regulated at both the state and federal level. So the idea that there is some procedural defense to Congress' ability to regulate health care or health insurance is not well founded.

The federal level mainly deals with privacy around patient records. I'll have to read through this paper first, thanks for passing along this link. I have my bathroom material for the next few days

I share your frustration with the mechanics of how the current law works. There has to be a better way. My (perhaps myopic) point is merely to cement the notion that Congress has the Commerce Clause powers to address the multi-faceted health care/health insurance problems that we all agree exist. But I agree that the current law is severely flawed.

I think we all think it's flawed, whether left, right or in the middle. Still, you have to ask why the people shrieking so loudly about it now didn't head it off when they had the chance from 2000 through 2006? Were they happy with the status quo? Well, they had their health care paid for for life by the taxpayer so maybe they just didn't give a crap.

I guess what irks me most is the complete failure on the right to do anything positive about anything. It's all talk talk talk, no action on anything (with the sole exception of sending other people's kids to war). Yet when someone else actually tries to fix a problem, however badly, all they can do is whine and criticize.

You had a filibuster proof majority in the senate, the white house and an easy majority in the house, and you try to point to finger at the Repubs?

husseincare is an ABOMINATION that required bending every rule in the book to get a bare simply majority, the house was what, passed by 5 votes? Had to pass it to see what was in it!

What did it get you? it got you 64 new R's in 2010, you'll lose the senate in 2012 and all the districts get rewritten to ensure R majorities for 10+ years.

You can't see your ship has sunk, we are now stomping the rats as they attempt to flee the sinking USS Crapola.

that explains it.

And I cant WAIT for the Thunderdome deathmatch between Ed Hoyle and gbpfan from that thread. Please post when the date and time are established for that one . . . .TIA

Ha Ha - Your Wisconsin small school football team could kick the crap out of UWM's - ow wait - UWM did not even have a football team.

I know your post was not directly about me asking if Bushwacked posted on other boards but that post lead to the UWM thing so I am replying to this post.

I thought it was weird that Bushwacked ripped on Brentastic a few days ago for "stealing" some info from teh intenet or a book and using it but then when I read Bushwacked comments it just did not sound like something he typically writes so I googled it. I found the exact same comment on a different website under the comments section. I was wondering if he stole some info off the web like he ripped on someone for doing or if he simply posted on other sites under some other name.

It is quite possible he posted the original comments but thought it was weird that he may have done the same thing he was ripping on someone else for doing.

Sorry for the hijack and now to get back on track - Ed Hoyle and I have no issues since he now loves Ted.

I guess all of us right now are engaging in pedophilia, rape, murder, necrophilia, and jay walking as well. What a joke! You freaking Libs will stop at nothing. Look at the contortion you have to go through to try to justify crap like this. Why can't you just admit that the Federal mandate is wrong?

What full-proof analogies.

It certainly wasn't my intention to pretend to be an expert on the constitutionality of the HC law when I offered my feelings on parts of the judges written decision. Congrats is in order I guess, as you either understand it better than me or know how it will play out. I'm saddened that some of you here seem more concerned about your team winning "the last round" than the actual due process.

What i meant was your absolution in that all of the problems stem from the right.

...and completely ignoring the fact that for the last 2 years the left has had a lock on Congress and the WH and wouldn't let the Republicans bring anything to the table anyways. The Democrats weren't letting anything getting to the table unless is was written by them. The Ds knew they had limited time to implement their socialist agenda and NOTHING was going to stop them - even a better idea by the Rs or the fact that their bill is a flawed POS.

So please, Ursa, spare us your lefty BS when you blame the Rs for just bitching about it. That's ALL they were allowed to do.

And the period 2000 through 2006? And now? Right now? Repeal and replace? Clue me in on the replace bit of it, would you? That would be the part where they actually have to construct something as opposed to the repeal part where all they have to do is get rid of other people's efforts.

Well, you got me there. I feel kind of silly now. Was there a Health Care proposal from the Ds that the Rs were bitching about instead of taking action on from 2000 - 2006?

As of right now, the idea is to try and repeal/defund the current POS that is called ObamaCare and in the meantime take more thought, more than 24 hours to write and more than 4 hours to actually read something better to replace it. It's coming - you'll see. The fact that it isn't in front of you now doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

First priority, however, is to stop Godzilla from destroying Tokyo.

Actually is was earlier during the Clinton era. The right blocked that one too, and replaced it with a yawning abyss of nothingness . .

The absence of governance is not governance. There are massive problems with the current bill. No argumnet there. But the lack of ANYTHING isnt good either . . .apparently it is easier to play political games about "repeal!" than actually legislate in a combined fashion to make it better.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo please esplain to me how we legislated in a combined fashion when the libtards were in charge? What you are saying is that if I have a severe heart problem that noone has ever treated before that instead of trying to do the right thing... the thing to do would be shoot me in the head. At least you did something. Of course it was the wrong thing and it killed me, but you did something. That argument is weak as hell and you know it. Just as that old sour puss Ursula knows that his premise of the party of no is preposterous as well.

The slogan is Repeal and Replace. We both know they aren't going to replace it with anything. They are going to do nothing, as usual.

You dont get it. Calling the right out for doing nothing is not equal to endorsing what the left did. I give the left credit for tring to get something done, and then lambaste them for doing it in a very very very poor fashion.

But they also tried. That is a lot more than what the right has done. They havent offered anything of substance to the health care debate. They failed miserably in the attempt, but they tried to do something.

you focus too much on strict party lines, when there is a lot of fault to be had in both parties in the continual failure in health care. the inability to acknowledge that both parties at fault is a great litmus test to see how far people fall to the left or right.

You might be off the side of the graph waaaaaay to the right.
