HutOne
And all the more reason to make the negotiations semi public. It sure would cut out all of the he said she said BS. I totally agree. I would have loved to watch these negotiations and to see who the liar really is. Right now it seems like the owners were doing eveything they could and the players were buying time to take it the courts.
Bronco Billy
How silly! They should just say "yessir massah . . . we be grateful for wutevah you be givin us . . . thank you massahs . . . thank you!!" and be happy for whatever they get at the whim of their lord/owner. You're seriously making a comparison to slavery? Well, thanks for setting the stupid bar to a new level...
Clubfoothead
Exactly. They can find other employment. With all that free college education they ought to be able to land plum non-football jobs. After all, former players have a stellar record of financial success after they have left the league. I don't disagree. And the owners can find replacement players. And I won't be buying a burger from Demarcus Ware or helping Jerry Jones finish paying off the Death Star. Doesn't mean I believe the owners made a fair offer. Of course they say the offer was fair, if the offer wasn't fair, the owner's have no legal right to a lockout.

After all . . . they DO rule the world and the indentured servant players should be happy they dont get whipped for their insolence. I really cant believe that EVERYONE would be behind the owners!! Quick..run a poll in Wisconsin and let's see what the results are. I highly doubt they would be in the players majority.

Savage Beatings
I might have to consider becoming an Agent now. I'm offering 1% commission. Seriously though, if this kills the upcoming season (and why wouldn"t it) then I might need to seriously consider goiing cold turkey and breaking my addicttion to Fantasy Football forever. I'm not saying that I wouldn't watch the NFL again once they pull their heads out of their asses or anything like that... I'll always love the game, but I invest a lot of time, energy, money and emotion into all of this, and a lost season is just a kick to the nuts that I don't need to put up with. Maybe it's time for me to take a break and these dickwads are just forcing it to start now before I was really ready. I feel like an alcoholic that just found out Prohibition has been passed. BeeR
You're seriously making a comparison to slavery? Welcome to the 21st century. I think the players should sue for "reparations." Manning might need a little blackface though

Manning might need a little blackface though On Moving the Chains, Justice told Tim and Pat that the players, and himself, have NOT been treated fairly since he's bee in the league. They were like "really?' he stammered for a second or tow before saying"yes, i have". what an a$$whole.

Ursa Majoris
I never thought it would come to this. It's bizarre, surreal. One thing overlooked somewhat is the owners agreed to give the players TEN extra weeks off by reducing OTAs. And you didn't grab that along with all the rest of the offer with both hands, players? Holy crap.
Clubfoothead
Yahoo sports seems to imply it came down to a $185,000,000.00 difference. If that's all this is about then the whole thing is a sham and it will be worked out and my wife was right and this whole thing is just a soap opera for men. Holy crap. Try this exchange from another thread: So the packer's books make you think the players should give up 1b and play 2 more games per season? Please explain how you came to that conclusion. TIA The NFL withdrew the 18 game schedule. The owners offered taking another $500M, not $1B. A substantial part of that additional $500K would go directly to retired players. Costs are going up for owner - taxes are up, fuel prices are up (travel costs), insurance costs are up, wholesale costs are up. The reductions to the rookie salary cap go directly to current players as well as former players. You can't show me that the owners would pocket an additional dime over last year given the above. You also can't show me that the players would make any less - in fact, it is much more likely that the salary cap figure would rise for next season, meaning with the 1st round rookie cap that the vets are in line to get solid increases in their compensation. The players would be getting more time off for that additional compensation. Not only can I not figure out what your complaint is, but it appears you have little to no factual basis for your position. YWIA. Go Rockies! piratesownninjas
Went to the Dallas Stars game tonight. Forgot all about this CBA/Lockout crap for a few hours. Looks like I'm about to start paying more attention to the NHL.
montster
All I can say is the players and the owners are going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.I for one will never watch another NFL game if we lose this season due to a labor squable. When MLB went on strike and lost the World Series i decided then that I would never follow it again.I don't even glance at the standings in the newspaper to this day.All I can say is thank god for college football and the SEC. I have to admit, it wasnt a conscious decision, but I stopped going to Yankee games regularly after their last strike, and have never followed the Rangers again after the NHL strike (even though that strike saved the league, really). Now, I was never, EVER close in obsession to those sports like I have always been to the NFL. But the players union, right now, has given me a really bad taste in my mouth, and if the season is lost because of thier actions (I no longer see it as the owners actions), then I am afraid of what happens next.... Bon Jovi still owns an Arena team, right? Aside from a month of March Madness, the only sport I follow is the NFL. In fact, it's because of the MLB and NBA strikes that I stopped watching those sports and devoted even more of my interest to the NFL. A fall season of no pro football would certainly free up a lot of my time, but seeing as I actually get immense enjoyment out of it, I'd rather they settle this thing.
