Seahawks21
Shaun Alexander was back in town yesterday, and KJR AM had him on the mid-day show. The host Dave Mahler, trying to find out why he was in town, started asking about the Seahawks ring of honor and about getting his jersey retired. To everyone's surprise, Shaun revealed that he actually was back in town working out to try to play this season. He hasn't officially retired from the NFL yet. He said something about how he couldn't take 20 carries anymore, but he could contribute....... Sorry, no link, I just heard it on radio. Furd
I wonder if he bought too much jury?
DMD
34 years old, hasn't played at all for two seasons and only had 24 carries in 2008. Alexander is the poster boy for hitting the wall. Heck he hasn't been effective since 2005 when he was all used up.
detlef
Well, you know the saying, "Never too old to play RB in the NFL" Actually, wait, I don't think that's how the saying goes.
Seahawks21
Yeah, I can't see him getting a tryout anywhere. If anybody was interested in him, he would've been on a roster over the past couple of years. I'm wondering if this is financial, but he made pretty decent money and typically isn't thought of as a guy that got in trouble with custody issues or gambling or anything like that. Just sounds like a guy that can't come to terms with the way things ended. Edited March 31, 2011 by Seahawks21
DMD
Not sure how it all played out, but Alexander signed an 8-year, $62 million contract in the spring of 2006 as the big pay day for his record setting 2005 season. That included $15 million in first year bonuses and salary and had $15 million guaranteed. He made $5 to $8 million per year after that for 2 years until getting released and going to Washington. Not to say he couldn't spend all that, but he had some nice money at least for a while. Then again so did Tiki Barber...
Duchess Jack
bugger looked like a matress trying to play RB his last couple seasons.

Bronco Billy
First Tiki, now this. How soon before Paul Hornung and Jim Brown decide to come out of retirement, too? I mean, they couldn't handle 20 carries anymore, but...

tazinib1
I dunno, I bet Jim Brown would give it a shot. And I bet Jim Brown would be a bad ass too. Imagine Jim Brown as the certified GL back. OUCH!!
Big John
I dunno, I bet Jim Brown would give it a shot. Like in 1985 when he raced Franco Harris to try a comeback?
