Lady.hawke
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/on...y-romney-paul/1 It seems that this straw poll is held once a decade, and every time the winner is the GOP nominee the next year. I hope that happens next year! Can you imagine the debates?
wiegie
As I said in a thread (since deleted) about the second GOP debate, Cain was pretty much the only person on stage who seemed to be capable of making a coherent statement. Wasn't Huntsman there? He's the only one I've thought coherent.
muck
The phrase "spurrious correlation" comes to mind. This straw poll is as predictive as saying that hemlines or Super Bowl winners determine the future stock market performance.

This straw poll is as predictive as saying that hemlines or Super Bowl winners determine the future stock market performance. That was a pithy statement, but this straw poll has never been wrong. Please read the article. I, for one, think it would be awesome if Cain was the nominee.

wiegie
Oh, and for the record, just because I think Cain is coherent when answering questions, does not mean that I agree with him on his policy stances.
TheGrunt
Wasn't Huntsman there? He's the only one I've thought coherent. Huntsman's economic plan actually makes a lot of sense. But in my opinion, so does Cain's. I think Herman Cain would be a great president.
WaterMan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_pos..._of_Herman_Cain I couldn't be more opposite from this guy.
Rovers
Does he just blink his eyes a lot, or does his make-up man spray his eyes with mace before he goes on camera?? Also, I didn't know they had straw in Florida, outside of Disney World that is. They have them horses there and everything. How exactly do they use straw in this poll? TheGrunt
I couldn't be more opposite from this guy. Have you read his 999 plan? It makes sense to me. I like it. What part about Herman Cain is so opposite from you?
Ursa Majoris
Have you read his 999 plan? It makes sense to me. I like it. It's almost entirely tax cuts. Tax cuts to a level that would guarantee national bankruptcy.
Ursa Majoris
In fact it's far worse. It's indescribable.
Lady.hawke
It's almost entirely tax cuts. Tax cuts to a level that would guarantee national bankruptcy. Once again, no matter how nicely I attempt to reply to you, you have almost guaranteed this thread will be locked. Let's play nicely so that does not happen. National bankruptcy is guaranteed due to the current level of entitlement spending. Cain's plan is likely to put more dollars in the government's coffers. Those that now pay nothing, will certainly pay something due to a 9% national sales tax. Reducing the corporate tax rate to 9% will certainly bring more jobs back to the USA, with those taxpayers. I think his plan is brilliant. If you disagree, what's your plan?
CaP'N GRuNGe
It's almost entirely tax cuts. Tax cuts to a level that would guarantee national bankruptcy. A 9% sales tax AND a 9% income tax with no deductions or credits?
Lady.hawke
A 9% sales tax AND a 9% income tax with no deductions or credits? Yes, basically. And a 9% Corporate income tax. No deductions. It is a flat tax.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Yes, basically. And a 9% Corporate income tax. No deductions. It is a flat tax. So corps pay less and the rest of us pay more? Not like they are going to lower their prices and pass along savings to consumers...
Ursa Majoris
A 9% sales tax AND a 9% income tax with no deductions or credits? And all the other taxes gone. Capital gains, estate, SS, all gone. It's a pipe dream for plutocrats, designed to accrue even more money into the top echelon. Fair? It's f'n lunacy, it's Ayn Rand gone even more mad. Lady.hawke
So corps pay less and the rest of us pay more? Not like they are going to lower their prices and pass along savings to consumers... Yes, Corporations want to make money. Their stockholders require it - and you and I through 401ks, etc are often investors. Many of us want them to succeed, also. What they charge for their product has the tax burden built in as part of the price of the good - we are paying their taxes as you stated. If they can sell more product at a lower price due to a lower tax- they will. I wonder why Corporations are so vilified when so many of us work for them or through retirement plans are invested in them?

Equally and fairly. With more jobs too, more taxpayers would be patriotically helping our country instead of sucking the life out of it via social handouts. Duchess Jack
good for Cain, but I've been to Florida several times and have met Floridians. Its kind of "the second chance state" and is full of a lot of cats saying "aw, hell - we'll just sell everything that can't fit in the bed of the truck and move to Florida. I don't really see them as a politically savvy bunch.
