Shorttynaz
How the hell did Bob Sanders make the list? What's he nominated for? Playing 2 games a season then getting hurt. Ironically - the year the Colts won the SB he was healthy all season.
DMD
Tomlinson will get in and he deserves it. Owens will not get in but he should.
stevegrab
I think they need to start cutting back on the nominees, I added up the categories it was close to or over 100. Also players from older eras need to get in, before their stats become even less meaningful (QB and WR #s keep going up) Once there is a finalist list I would consider the candidates and who is more worthy. Holy crap, Eric Metcalf, seriously? Loved him during his Browns year but what did he do that is HOF worthy?
Zooty
In LaDainian Tomlinson Terrell Owens Karl Mecklenburg- should have already IMO Steve Atwater John Lynch In the discussion but not worthy IMO QBs Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb (an Eagle fan can dream......yeah, probably not even in the discussion) Phil Simms, Kurt Warner- definite maybes. More likely than they should be IMO because they were QBs. Warner's story alone might be worthy. Simms too me felt like the caretaker of a great D and running game, not a difference making, play-maker. But that's how Bradshaw got in so....... Running backs (13)Shaun Alexander, Ottis Anderson, Tiki Barber, Larry Centers, Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Eddie George, Edgerrin James- each had a few great or even dominate years but none really lasted at the top long enough. TD may have the most sympathy for career cut shot ala Sayers but his replacements stepped-in a played well which ultimately hurts him. Edge may have had the longest run at the top and would be the best here IMO Wide receivers (10)Isaac Bruce, Henry Ellard, Torry Holt, Chad Johnson, Jimmy Smith, Rod Smith- close but just not enough in numbers and dominance, maybe Bruce who IMO is the best of this bunch Sterling Sharpe- short career, would say not a chance but keeps ending up with the finalists so maybe...... Hines Ward- Not to me but he played for the Steelers so he'll get in Tight end (1) Mark Bavaro- ummmm no Offensive linemen (14)Tony Boselli, Kent Hull, Joe Jacoby, Mike Kenn, Kevin Mawae, Tom Nalen, Nate Newton, - Boselli and Mawae were dominate, the others I have read stuff in passing about why the deserve to be in. Newton was a Cowboy which is a good as being a Steeler so he is in, along with Jacoby because he ws a Hog. :No HoF bias: Ray Donaldson, Alan Faneca, Jay Hilgenberg, Chris Hinton,Olin Kreutz, Jim Lachey, Steve Wisniewski- all great from what I remeber but not "scary good" Defensive linemen (5)Leslie O’Neal, Simeon Rice, Fred Smerlas, Jason Taylor, Bryant Young- Taylor maybe...... Linebackers (11)Carl Banks, Cornelius Bennett, ClayMatthews Jr., Sam Mills, Joey Porter, Zach Thomas- maybe any one of them....... Porter on that list? For real? Defensive backs (16)Eric Allen, Joey Browner, LeRoy Butler, Brian Dawkins, Rodney Harrison, Ty Law, Albert Lewis, Frank Minnifield, Bob Sanders, Darren Sharper, Dennis Smith, Troy Vincent, Everson Walls, Darren Woodson- not enough DBs in IMO. Kicker/punter (4)Morten Andersen, Gary Anderson, Sean Landeta, Nick Lowery- Haha, never Special teams (2)Brian Mitchell, Steve Tasker- good luck guys! Coaches (11)Don Coryell, Bill Cowher, Tom Flores, Mike Holmgren, Jimmy Johnson, Chuck Knox, Buddy Parker, Richie Petitbon, Dan Reeves, Clark Shaughnessy, Dick Vermeil The only ones here I would put in are Holmgren and Coryell but I'm guessing Cowher and JJ make it too. I don't know enough about Parker and Shaughnessy
Montana is da Man
LT and TO are the two guys I think will definitely get in. There are way too many players nominated for the hall of fame.
