vikings fan...very scared of this game... :D

This is a typical letdown game for the Vikes. I've seen it happen time and time again for years. they freak'in suck on National broadcasts...... hence our 4 2nd. place finishes in Super Bowls. B)

Seriously though..... This is the kind of statement game that they need to win for them to start garnering respect. :D

I love how Tice has taken emotional control of this team over the past year or so..... not to mention Moss turning into a solid team leader not just a stud on the field. The vikes gambling, freight-train hitting defense is the key in my mind...... if they can pressure McNabb & lay some wood on TO..... maybe they can pull it off. :D

least turnovers wins this one.

here's a little nugget from fanball....... the Eagles secondary is already banged up and it looks like Lito sheppard will be covering the superfreak with a cast on his hand. Oh the hughmanity. :D

Sheppard should be able to play on Monday

The News

Eagles starting cornerback Lito Sheppard saw a hand specialist on Monday, and there's a "good chance" he'll be able to play on Monday, head coach Andy Reid told the team's official web site. Sheppard broke his right thumb during Sunday's game. He will wear a cast during the week. The Eagles host the Vikings on Monday night.

Our View

The Eagles can't really afford to lose anybody at the cornerback spot, but Sheppard is certainly going to have a tough time containing the Vikings receivers with a broken thumb. We can't upgrade Randy Moss any higher than number one, but fantasy owners in deeper leagues may want to think about using some of the Vikings other receivers.

Tough game to call. I don't think the Eagles can stop C Pep and Moss and I know the Vikings can't stop McNabb and T.O. I think this comes down to the run defense and the running game. The Eagles D should stop run and Westbrook will be the difference in this game for the Eagles. This should be one of those high fantasy point games you dream about.

Supposedly the AFROS are going to make a comeback on Monday Night! :D

It will be tough for the Vikings to pull out this road game, but in the end the difference maker will be 2004 NFL MVP Daunte Culpepper as the Vikes pull off a 6 point victory in the waning moments of the 4th quarter.

local weather has rain from Ivan hitting us Friday - Sunday, but could linger into the following week depending on the track of the storm. current projections have the bulk of the storm hitting the center of the state and remaining west of us, with scattered showers for the philadelphia area. they're never right about that stuff anyway. could be wet, too early to tell

Is the Vikings secondary non existant? :D

go ask Meshawn..... he had some serious wood layed on him all day..... bought got his neck broken on the sidelines on one play. B)

check the stats

their 4 DB's were the 4 leading tacklers in the game with 22 solos & 3 assists. :D EJ Henderson was the highest of the LB's with 3.

The Cowboys only garnered 71 yards rushing... hense forcing Vinny to throw the rock 50 freak'in times. The problem was the D-line getting absolutely no pressure on Vinny.

Yeah it just seems like no one knows that the Vikings have a secondary.

Here's my take on this game-- very tough to call.

MIN needs to come out early and establish a running game, between the tackles. The Eagles played well against NYG last week, but I think they are still suspect against the run, especially right up the gut of the line. Hollis Thomas does not look good after sitting out of TC, and with Matt Birk able to chip on him and Walker, look for penetration into the second level and some big plays, especially if Simoneau has trouble wrapping up, like he did late last season and pre-season. It will be interesting to see the Defensive schemes JJ puts together for this game, as I see him using the safeties in pass coverage to prevent the big play to Moss, leaving them way downfield to help on run support.

One of the key match-ups will be Kearse going up against OT Rosenthal (Rosenfeld?) I think Kearse will have a huge impact in pressuring C-Pep, and with the loss of Kleinsasser, Bennet not in and Moe dinged up, I don't have a lot of confidence in Smith picking up pass protect duties very well. Daunte will not have all day to stand back and look for Moss to break free for the long ball. If the Eagles can muster some run blitzes to stop the Vikings from getting into ball control mode, I think they will win. Also, playing outside on grass is going to play in the Eagles favor and take away some of the track-meet speed the MIN Offense uses to blow up. As a side note, look for Robinson to have a pretty big game.

On Offense, I like the Eagles chances, but they have to be on the field. Loss of Ken Irvin is huge. The MIN LB corps is suspect-- and coming from an Eagles fan, that's saying something. Because MIN will probably play in man off coverage, look for Westbrook to have a very big game, and Mitchell, Lewis and Smith to get a lot of looks in the middle of the field. I don't see a huge day from Owens, yardage-wise, but he could definitely end up being the redzone target.

I'll take the Eagles in a game that is close until the end of the 3rd Quarter, then a turnover seals the win.

Eagles 34

Vikings 21

Beat me to it.

I have no idea if Ivan will have anything to do with the game or not. However, I do think that everyone expecting a 'shootout' may be disappointed.

To me a 'shootout' is something like 45-40. Or more. Think this game will be more like 27-26 or less.

Have no stats, research, or links... just a 'feeling'.

I'm actually with you on that one skylive. The last couple of years whenever a "shootout" seemed obvious to everyone, it just never quite materialized. I think that both defenses will step up and put on a hugh Monday Night showing. They'll be a couple of nice long plays, but otherwise I'm thinking it will end up being:

MIN 20

PHI 17

We'll see.

This one's easy. Let's look at last week's game:

Dallas had 355 yards passing (on the road, avg O line, 40 year old QB)

Dallas had 71 yards rushing (No Julius or Eddie, so not bad)

TOTAL 426 yards of offense

As a bonus they also did not allow a sack on Vinny!!!

If I had to guess I'd say Philly 38 Vikings 20. TO has 2 more TD's. Blow out game. That's a bad defense. No pass rush + no secondary = tons of time to throw. Big plays are on the way!!!

Hey Mort :D...... vinny thru the ball 50 freak'in times.

and of those 71 yds rushing... about 1/2 came on one drive from Rashard Lee. :D

They stuffed the run forcing vinny to launch throws all day...... not to hard to accumulate alotta passing yds when 3 outta 4 offensive plays were in the air.

Not to dispute what you are saying, but I was watching the MIN/DAL game between plays of the Eagles game, and it looked like Vinny had all day to throw. Give McNabb that much time, and you will be looking at a loss. Key match-up will be Tra Thomas against your rookie DE (I ain't even gonna try and spell that one). If Pro-Bowl Thomas shows up, good for Eagles. If fat, lazy turnstile Thomas shows up, bad for Philly.

Rashard Lee exactly what I'm saying. What do think Westbrook will do?

And you don't think McNabb can't throw for a 70 yard gain?

I look at both offenses and I see mirrored images....and right now...I think the Eagles have the better defense as a whole...and the edge in the coaching matchup...

but it'll be close....a close shootout....like 38-31

I agree. Another excellent monday night matchup. Advantage to Philly but the Vikings could win it too.

The Vikings were bored after getting to 35 points. Most of those yards didn't mean much. I'm not a Minnesota fan, but they were impressive. Their D has improved a lot over last year and Philly's CB's are raw. Could be a very high scoring game.

Do you think before you talk? Or maybe you just don't know anything about football?

Minnesota had 28 INT's last year, one less than the league leading NE Pats. Your Beagles had 13. No secondary? :D Good call. Granted, Irvin is hurt, but they happened to add a guy by the name of Antoine Winfield.

No pass rush? OK, although I think it's good not great as opposed to "no", I'd also say Dallas pass protects better than Philly. Beagles allowed a league 5th worst 43 sacks last year, while Dallas (that's who you compared) allowed 37.

Sacks you ask? Philly had 38 last year. Minnesota, now improved, had 37.

NEXT. :D

Giving Beagle fans a bad name. Well, I guess they already have that. B)
