Dcat
One-year deal with incentives that could potentially go up to $15 mill. Jets finally have a large bodied split-end. I think the last solid X receiver we had was Braylon Edwards. Before that was Brandon Marshall and Keyshawn Johnson, over 25 yrs ago. But it was neither the financials nor the QB that convinced Mike to not leave the building. It was the sandwich.
stevegrab
Wow the Chargers offense sure is going to be different next year.
purplemonster
Can Mike make it a full season? He will take some pressure off of Garrett Wilson. Nice add if he can stay healthy and still effective after an ACL tear

DMD
I would hope they all can stay healthy, but how fitting would it be for Aaron Rodgers and Mike Williams to be injured in Week 1?

He missed one game each 2019-21, then 4 games in 22 and 14 in 23. Not a good trend.

Still a solid signing for a team that hasn't has big bodied X in forever. With the additions of Williams, Moses and Tyron Smith, the Jets now have far more flexibility with pick 10 including trading out. WR and OT have been the greatest needs. IOL and safety are needed too. I don't particularly want Bowers at 10. Not a fan of early TEs. Kelce, Kittle and the vast majority of stud TEs were not 1st rd picks. Sure, Tony Gonzalez was a 1st rounder. Hockenson was a #11 and only recently has started to live up to that spot.

Still happy to have him. Fills an immediate need and the Jets can draft a WR prospect in April.

And Jets fans have already been through this twice: 1999: after one game away from a Super Bowl appearance in 1998, Parcells Jets came into 1999 with a winning expectation. Then on the 1st series in game 1 of 1999, Vinny Testaverde handed the ball to Curtis Martin, who fumbled it, and Vinny turned awkwardly to retrieve the ball and of course.... ruptured achilles. 1999 season down the toilet on that warm September day. Turn to 2023. Jets come in with high expectations and Rodgers goes down 3 plays in to the opening series with... yup... torn achilles. Season over after 3 plays. Twice is enough in one lifetime dude. So just how fitting would it be to happen a 3rd time? You are one mean dude DMD.

But they do seem cursed - things just happen to them beyond their control and beyond the laws of probability. When's the last time anyone said, "wow, the Jets really caught a break on that one" ? They beat Don Shula and his heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7 in SB III (which wasn't even called SB then). I was 9 years old and going to games at Shea Stadium then. The draft pick haul they got for Jamal Adams; who went on to have one great season before signing a massive contract and then having his career derailed with injury. I had played fantasy basketball and a coworker buddy recruited me to his longtime league that had started out as a 4-team, TD-only league. Vinny was coming off a great season and I think he was my first draft pick. I had flown up to NorCal for the draft and by the time I got off the plane on Sunday morning I had a ton of text messages from guys in the league with their sympathies. Fortunately I had drafted a guy named Rich Gannon as my backup QB and he went on to have one of the best fantasy seasons for a QB in recent history.
