Rovers Posted December 28, 2004 Share Posted December 28, 2004 Well, I finished in the top half, which is all I could really hope for after the first two weeks of the playoffs, going from #168 to a somewhat respectable #84. During the playoffs, one key injury or pitiful performance from a QB or an RB can really ruin one's chances. For me, that was Griese in week 15 and McAllister in week 13, for a grand total of 12 points. I also played Manning, Harrison and Owens on one of thier worst weeks of the season. Looking at it that way, finishing 50 points out of the money doesn't seem so terrible. To win the top prize, an incredible amount of luck has to fall in one's lap. Looking at the guy who won, he had 50 point perfomances from Volek and McNabb, Bennett for a 40, a 30 from Porter, and even got a 20 out of Keary Colbert! Considering I was 100 points behind him, the dumb luck factor was at work for sure. I count that as about 90 to 100 "dumb luck" points from just those five players. This isn't a sour grapes thing, just pointing out that WITHOUT that sort of luck, you won't win the big prize. Los G, congrats on finishing in the money! Nicely done! One needs to catch some lightning in a bottle witht this tourney .... like Volek getting a 50, and D Bennett having a career day with 40 points. I also had some good players left, never used R Johnson, Staley, K Jones and some others too. Bennett is a perfect example of a WR that could (should?) be used in the regular season, while saving a M Harrison. That strategy didn't work for me at all. In this tourney, "any given Sunday" takes on a whole new meaning! Whomper, on the home page, to the middle right, you will see a link to the FFTOC Tourney..... that should more than answer your questions. It was alot of fun, every week has a draft day! I'll be in it again next year, but there may be a waiting list for new managers, as "charter members" will have first dibs on getting in next year.
