driveby
And I call it Chinese. Backstory: I'm not really sure why, but I was sure I did not like Chinese food. Maybe it was growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, or maybe I got some bad Chinese somewhere in my distant past, or maybe it was the tales of missing cats and dogs, whatever the reason, other than a couple Chinese buffets where I ate the hot wings and little meat balls, I've successfully avoided Chinese food for almost 49 years. And then it happened. We flew home for Christmas and my brother-in-law and his wife picked us up at the airport in Madison. We were all hungry so Dave said "How about Chinese?" I was about to say "Uh, no", when I caught an elbow in the gut from Mrs driveby and a hissing under her breath "Shut up and eat it" Since I was outnumbered 4 to 1 (my 17 year old son also loves Chinese), I decided to suck it up and play along. Started off with sizzling rice soup or something like that. 3 bowls later, so far so good. Cheese puffs, won ton soup, all good. We ordered a few main courses and shared them. Chicken fried rice, delicious Orange chicken, yummy Sesame chicken, very good a couple more dishes I don't remember the name of, and my favorite, General Tao chicken. Sweet and yet spicy. :rubbingtummy: Needless to say, I'm making up for lost time :burp:

Brentastic
General Tao 1290856[/snapback] General Tso's out here. Same thing though. When it's done right, this stuff is the bomb . I like mine more spicy than sweet, but I do need some sweet. Congrats finding a new food that you like and next time I recommend having your entree(s) over fried rice. I personally like plain fried rice but it comes in all varities: shrimp, chicken, pork, beef etc....now that's yummy. Whenever one of us is starting to feel like the flu is coming or something, we head out for some Chinese soup and it cures you in like a day or two.
