whomper
The Rex play under the rules as written was the right call but what happened to a fumble being a fumble ?..I heard Madden talk about it this year as well..I see so many plays that I remember when I was growing up watching football were always fumbles..Now its all about did the player make Football moves and arms in motion..Is it just me or do any of you agree ? Randall
He wasn't throwing that ball. That much is clear.

major-tom
Not sure why rule can't differentiate between arm moving forward and a true passing motion.

Gunther
That better be a fumble Did not complete a football move was the ruling, I guess.

Clubfoothead
Good call bad rule. His arm was going forward because he was getting laid out. But is was going forward...

Bronco Billy
Fumbles can be some of the closest & toughest plays in football to call. Completions are right there with them. The NFL is just trying to implement rules that remove a lot of the subjectiveity of the call - especially with super-slo mo review available. Jedi
To go with the "fumble just insn't a fumble anymore" are all the close-call catches on the sidelines these days. Used to be that if the receiver had two feet in bounce and "came down' with the ball, it was a catch. Now, if the ball moves while he falls or steps out, it's incomplete regardless of if he holds onto it or not. No credit for a good catch. I think the definition of "control" needs to be addressed.

Excellent point and right on topic, pretty much another rule that has been bent. So I'll ask everyone.......did REPLAY hurt in this regard? It has to play into some of this....doesn't it?
