Savage Beatings
Vikings sign Gus Frerotte. This pretty much ensures that Tarvaris will be the undisputed starter for the Vikings with no real competition pushing him.

Savage Beatings
Doing this?: I know I am. Here's the thing... I know that Head Coaches are going to do whatever they think is best for the team. Sometimes that means that the fans might really want someone who the team decides to pass over. But with Childress, he makes moves that just seem to suck the life out of the fan base. Last year it was the inexplicably large contract for TE Visanthe Shiancoe. This year, Childress' fascination with really old has been never was QB's continues. I would just rather that they make NO moves, than to make BAD moves.

MikesVikes
Childress has given Bernard Berrian a guarantee that the QB situation will be settled this year. Childress is on crack if he thinks this is settled.
MikesVikes
Here is a quote from Wilf in the Star tribune today... Wilf, however, said coach Brad Childress' job security will not depend on a playoff berth this season. The Vikings are 14-18 under Childress but won five of their last seven games in 2007. "I don't believe in those kinds of benchmarks," Wilf said in his most extensive interview of the year. "That's not how I operate. I talk about patience all the time. This is a step-by-step process. You can't make rash decisions when you're trying to build something from the ground up. That takes time. So, no, I can't say that [the playoffs] is something that is required of him. We are all accountable as a group and not as sole individuals for how the team performs." I didn't know that the Vikes were a new franchise that had to start from scratch. I thought that they had 7 Pro Bowl players including 6 starters only a few months ago.

Hugh 0ne
Say Hugh One do you want to do that bet? Tavaris VS Aaron Rodgers? While clearly a fishing expedition, I'll humor you. I'll take Tarvaris, you take Rodgers, but to even the playing field, I'll take Peterson and you take Grant. I AIM'ed Caveman Nick when I made my first Tarvaris/Rodgers post that I was going on a fishing trip in case you think I'm full of it. I'm sure Nick would be more than happy to confirm this. My stance is that Tarvaris is not the answer. I think Aaron Rodgers will be good, albeit not as good as some are expecting based on 1 half of football against Dallas. That being said, with Rodgers weapons, the fact that he's clearly more talented, and the fact that Tarvaris very well may never get it, I see no chance of Tarvaris outperforming Rodgers unless there's an injury, and I don't want to bet based on the possibility of an injury. Outshined
You have to give them credit for trying to get a QB in free agency. I believe with the increased salary cap, teams have the luxury to lock up 2 good QB's. Since there are no QB's available and they tried to get Sage, I would like to see them continue with Tarvaris this year since he has all the weapons now. I would like to see them draft a QB early as insurance. If Tarvaris fails they have a back up plan. Fishing expedition by me? No it was just a question. You said he would be better than Rodgers and we could take that to the bank. All I did was ask you to make that a bet. All you have to do is say no. OK man. You changed your mind. I can live with that. Rodgers? Who knows. The coaches think he has made great progress in the last year but hasn't really shown much yet. I think he'll stick more to the game plan than Brett the gunslinger did, but only time will tell.
Savage Beatings
Maybe they get Colt Brennan late in the draft? He has to have surgery now (torn labrum I think?)... some are saying he will drop to late 2nd day, or maybe go undrafted.

No, you misunderstand, my initial post, the one about Jackson being better than Rodgers was the fishing trip. It should all make sense now, I hope. After I made that post I AIM'ed Nick to go and check out my fishing trip, which is why I asked him to confirm that my post was indeed a fishing trip, which he did. Does that make sense?
