Chargerz
nah, the orbital is a bone below the eye socket. Reggie Miller broke his once and played in the play-offs wearing Oakley sunglasses. As if that would help. I guess it'll all depend how bad it is. Good info here. The severity of the fracture will determine how fast he can return to the football field. Crazysight
I broke my right orbital bone about 10 years ago in a similar circumstance to Walkers...got jumped by a bunch of gangster-punks at a shady nightclub down in Salisbury, Mass that I was foolish enough to be at (on top of being sucker-punched in the throat and chipping my front tooth). Though I wasn't knocked out or anything, I had a bad shiner for a couple weeks. Healed just fine in that couple weeks time however. His eye socket injury should heal fine before long provided it wasn't inflicted with a crowbar or something of that magnitude, but what's more significant here is that he obviously sustained a serious head injury as he was found unconscious in the first place. The Wolf
Yeah but I think that involved several broken bones. From Raiders blog. A Raiders spokesman said “We are in the process of gathering information,” regarding the status of wide receiver Javon Walker, who was reportedly found unconconscious in Las Vegas with an orbital fracture Monday morning. Walker, according to Fox affiliate KVVU-5, was listed in fair condition. The Las Vegas-Review Journal reported Walker was spotted at the nightspot “Tryst” at the Wynn “spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignone Rose champagne he ordered.” Walker signed a free agent contract with $16 million in guaranteed money in the offseason but was still rounding into shape following knee surgery. Coach Lane Kiffin said he wanted Walker to lose weight before the Raiders went to training camp in Napa. A report filed with the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified Walker as the “victim of an early morning crime.” The statement read as follows: “The victim of an early morning crime near the intersection of Winnick Avenue and Koval lane has been identified as Javon Walker. Officers responded to a report of a man down at that location at approximinately 7:19 a.m. this morning. When officers arrived they found an unconscious male, who appears to have been the victim of a robbery. The victim was transported an an area hospital with siginficant injuries. Late htis afternoon detectives were able to positively identify the victim as Walker. “Walker remains hospitalized at this time and this investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information concinering this event is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.” So he was showing off, some thugs realized that he had money, and they jumped him. End of story. Was he alone? Where was his posse? Seriously, it is kind of unusual for an NFLer to be in that situation without a few friends. If he were alone, he should know better. Hope he is OK but one would think he'd have changed his lifestyle after Darrent Williams was murdered.

Bronco Billy
It's always nice to see someone learn something significant from a horrible tragedy. Walker, Darrent Williams, and others were apparently spraying champagne over other customers the night that Williams was shot, and it was apparently one of the instigating factors in what later transpired, and ended with Williams shot in the head & dying in Walker's lap. Now we get another story of Walker purchasing $15,000 worth of champagne in Vegas and spraying the crowd with it again, and he ends up in the gutter after someone cleans his clock. Seriously, could Walker be any stupider? It's almost impossible to dredge up any sympathy for him when you include some of his other actions. The guys seems hell bent on dying young, dying broke, or both. Edited June 17, 2008 by Bronco Billy

BeeR
Has this offseason had more player issues than usual? I've lost track, but it seems like every other week its something new. Nope, just another year in classy NFL. Hell I'm amazed it's been so long since we had some kind of REAL crime, like crack selling or rape or sumthin. Pansies. peepinmofo
If anyone sprayed me with champagne, Id beat his ass too... Ill wait until the full story comes out, but until then, it sounds like he is just a bonehead and as BB said, hasnt learned anything from past tradgedies. MikesVikes
Javon drinks like a girl. A few drinks and he's sleeping it off. Edited: Ok, so after reading one story it said "apparent attempted robbery." So I'll take back that he drinks like a girl. Fatman
I'm certainly not a doctor, but if I remember correctly part of the reason Davenport went on IR is because these types of injuries can happen again very easily to football players because of all the contact. Different than a basketball player coming back soon after.

Sure this seems dumb but don't blame the victim. If spraying champagne had resulted in pissing off some gang bangers a year and a half ago so much that it eventually led to a buddy being shot & dying in my arms, I think I'd learn that it might piss some of the wrong people off and to restrain my urge to spray champagne from that point forward. With Walker? Not so much, I guess. But it's not like he's being singled out randomly through a series of bad luck. It's Darwinism. The stupid have greater odds of getting culled from the herd. Javon Walker's story (just heard on 850 AM here): He went to his hotel room and was asleep at 5:30 AM, when he was awakened by a knock on the door. When he opened the door, 3 guys stuck guns in his face, entered his hotel room, hit him, and robbed him. Then the 3 guys took him from the room and into a car, where they drove him for a while and then dumped him in the street. No link yet.
