slainte
actually, as a qb, no. but i do miss the campbell soup commercials he did with his mom. they were heartfelt and nourishment for the soul. if ever i was having a bad day and one of them aired, it always managed to brighten the world around me and serve as a reminder that the world isn't so bad after all. giantsfan
It has always been funny to me how Eagle fans just didn't like McNabb. I get the big game issues, but man the guy had you there year after year...that has to count for something. I work with many Eagle fans, and most were very happy to see him go, and just weren't big fans of his. Always been strange to me.

He's been a great QB for them, but never could close the deal. They were hoping they would get the same from Kolb as GB got from Rodgers, and still might mind you. Not even a full half for the kid and people are already packing his bags. He should be going cheap in some leagues. I'm going to shoot for him in several leagues since so many people have given up on him. You know, trade M. Lynch or MSW for him. I bet some will go for it, lol. CowboysDiehard
My father in law lives out in Jersey and is something of a fairweather Eagles fan. He's been referring to McNabb as 'wussy-boy' for years, and has been talking all sorts of smack about how Kolb is going to save the Eagles. I typically stood up for McNabb, and told him to be careful what he wished for... Can't wait to talk to him again.
giantsfan
Just spoke to an Eagle fan buddy of mine, and he said the start Vick campaign is all over sports radio down there. They didn't love McNabb like they should have considering. They were all about Kolb this and Kolb that. Now one bad half and it's kick Kolb to the curb and start Vick. Funny stuff. They knew what they had when they saw how he performed in the Super Bowl, and what their chances would be to ever win one with him at QB. Given they came so close so many times, and the rest of their division has 11 rings to their zero, it takes on that much more urgency. Yeah, he's great in the regular season, but it's hard to argue that he should be kept around indefinitely to see if he can not choke if they ever made it to the big game again. Rovers
I never bought into the Kolb hype, and avoided all Eagle's offensive players this year. It's only one game, but I think it's going to be a long year for Iggles fans. That O line looks bad.
Flypaste
Nah... I don't miss him but I don't hate him either. I'm going to miss Leonard Weaver and Jamaal Jackson, though... slainte
as a season ticket holder (actually, a half), i can tell you that there are plenty of fans that acknowledge his skills in the game. but they also felt that both he and city had gotten to the point where they had become disenchanted with each other. . .a civil divorce, if you will. what i don't like is that they traded him to a division rival. . .flat out and clear violation of protocol. granted, kolb's situation coming into this offense is much better than mcnabb's was, given the sheer amount of weapons around him. mixing a veteran qb with a young core can certainly yield success. but maybe you wind up with a warner situation, where he gets you to your first superbowl, but utimately fails. sorry. been there. done that. maybe getting a young qb to grow up and 'come up' along with a young offensive core might push it over the edge. also, his leadership ability was spotty at best: 1. the locker room was split during the whole t.o. drama. he couldn't win favor with the majority of 'his' squad. 2. vomiting during his superbowl appearance. i know. . .i'm being cruel. this team has had a LOT of recent turnover. some of the most beloved names associated with that team. brian dawkins (aka b-dawg), lito sheppard, and the one who doesn't get enough 'coverage', brian westbrook. i think most forget how much of mcnabb's success depended on that man. but that's another tragedy for another thread. . . Samson
My God I wish the owners in my leagues were as quick to write off Kolb as some of you guys are. 30 minutes. His first opener and the kid didn't have time to shake his jitters and settle in. With that said, you better be as quick as Vick if you want to stay alive behind that crappy o-line. I think we see enough of Vick that he wins himself a starting QB job somewhere (probably not Philly) next year.

Avernus
I never hated McNabb, but I felt it was time for a change.... did I expect him to come out and kill GB behind that OL? In a word, NO... the OL might be worse the Dallas OL and when I was sticking up for Kolb as a top 10 FF QB, it was before I got to see how poorly they would block for him.... right now, however I'd hope Kolb gets sat for a few weeks as the OL tries to gel as we have a QB who can avoid the pass rush like Vick can because I feel that right now we'll lose at Detroit if Kolb starts, but Vick gives us the better chance to win in the short term due to the OL being atrocious... I hope McNabb does well in Washington, but I just don't think he was going to get anywhere as an eagle...If he happens to win the big game as a Redskin, then good for him - he probably just needed a change of scenery (I just don't see him getting it done as a redskin) I will say this though, this fast food generation sucks because everyone judged everything by RIGHT NOW...they act like they never followed an NFL season before and make it appear as if the NFL season is summed up in one game....has McNabb not ever stunk it up in week 1 before?
