Not surprising, most people don't like change and the amount of money being spent, adding a dome etc will not be what some want. Do you think it would have been better if they did what you want and moved them out of downtown? I personally like the downtown venues, even if the may be a bit isolated from the entertainment areas. (Browns stadium has nothing much right there, but there is a lot withing walking distance including near areas where many fans park for the game.) They are talking about moving out to the suburbs, near the airport, big piece of land the Haslams have an option to buy. If I still had season tickets I'd be against it, even if it might be closer and easier access. I attended a few Cavs games at the old Richfield coliseum, talk about a place in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. I would sometimes meet my friends at hotel nearby to have a drink or bite to eat and share a car ride to the game and back.

I looked at story real quick about the funding, good to see the team looking to contribute well over have (close to 2/3) of the 3.2B price tag for the stadium. Bears put up $2B, NFL $300M and $900M in bonds from the sports authority. I hear you, I'm a sporting motorcyclist, twisty curves and hills are what I crave. I have never been to the track, wish I had tried it long ago when it would have done more for my training. I do hit the occasional mostly deserted stretch of road and wind it up to 90-100. I also pass on the double yellow (only way to get around the cages in some cases) and generally ride at an an accelerated pace. I'm no choirboy on a bike or in the car. But I avoid doing that in places with a lot of traffic, unlike the stunting crowd who craves that attention and added danger. And these celebrity types who seem to frequently need to test their vehicle limits on crowded roads. I generally like to avoid any run-ins with the LEOs, so super high speeds on interstates on the bike are just not my thing. But these days I notice less enforcement on my travels, and generally higher speeds. Used to be for me 77 in the 70MPH Ohio Toll Road was pretty common. Now I'm doing over 80+ at times (like I do on similar roads in Michigan where they were never as zealous).

I have never been on the track, but know many who have on motorcycles. They don't "set up a track day" those are handled by various groups who put them on. You just sign up, show up and have fun. I would assume car drivers have similar options and don't need to handle all the track details themselves. You sound like you have experience on the track, or would at least require it of somebody driving your fast cars. Maybe your experience was different. As for all the other stuff, I think a guy like Rice who made about $2.5M as a rookie in the NFL can afford that. Of course he'd have OWN the car and not take one he is leasing to the track. They probably also wouldn't allow him to drive while drunk or high. Or break any other rules. You say you're not excusing his actions, but it sure sounds like you're offering excuses for why he can't/wouldn't/shouldn't "take it to the track". I don't just say that to random celebrities who drive like fools, I tell that my riding friends too when they get a bit too wild on the street.

Wow, so Rice was driving the Lambo, and was letting his friend from SMU football team drive his Corvette. Racing thru the streets of Dallas, because neither of them could possibly afford a track day to have some wild fun. But then I guess its more fun when its also illegal, yes I was young once and did some foolish things and got in trouble. Thankfully nobody was handing me piles of money and telling me I can do anything I like and they'll look out for me. PS These guys are lucky more of them don't end up killing people with their stupidity.

Fine with me, I'd rather my Browns not have that extra attention on them. And I won't miss the extra game (which would have been part of regional coverage on Sunday and likely missed anyway).

All this talk for RedZone and Andrew Siciliano had me confused, since he wasn't the hose of the NFL Network's RedZone program, but did the one on DirectTV as part of the Sunday Ticket package. (Which was dropped when YouTubeTV took over the Sunday Ticket offering by using NFL Network's RedZone.) As for Stark, she still does plenty with NBC sports including sideline reporter for Sunday Night Football. She has also done a lot with ABC/ESPN over the years, she's been in sports broadcasting for 25 years, she'll find additional work if she wants it.

I find it amusing that many seemed interested in this event, but didn't even look at the basics like the path. I have a sister in Florida near Daytona, saying it barely got dark there. Well yes, you were hundreds of miles from it, not in totality. Even 25-30 miles south of me they were on the edge of totality, which is where things get really interesting. Here is a story from the local paper with plenty of pictures, I shot a 12 second video during totality and shared it with some family, they thought it was cool. Cleveland media was reporting yesterday it seems unlikely the Browns get that game, based on the comments by the Packers president. Like he basically leaked that they were already selected.

Well we has some thin clouds but it was still clearly visible, the time it went into totality was amazing, especially right before and after as the sun is hidden. As the sun became uncovered it was like a giant bright light with a shade being pulled back. To the naked eye even a tiny bit of sun looks like the whole thing, but with the special glasses you only see the portion that isn't covered. Then during totality there were things along the surface making wild lights, either as the sun shines thru valleys and such(bright white), or solar flairs(red). I believe I experienced one as a kid, without totality maybe in the 90% coverage zone. Totally different thing.

Anybody else taking in this significant event? I have taken the day off and will get together with a good friend. Thought I had experienced one as a kid before, but checking the records there doesn't appear to have been one while I was living in Los Angeles at that time. Probably a partial eclipse or maybe outside totality.

I didn't have the NFL Network for much of the past 5+ years after my former TV provider (ATT U-Verse) dropped it. Never watched it a lot, but liked the ability to watch replay of games, something that is far easier online now (e.g. NFL channel on Youtube). Never watched much of the talking head shows or RZ. I do recall watching to their pre-game show for a period when Fox/CBS became laugh tracks, but now I'm busy Sunday morning before games. The paragraph below from an article I read is telling, basically they are trying to sell it, but it doesn't offer much, and has too high of a cost. Some think the NFL is simply trimming the payroll and massaging the balance sheet as it continues to look for someone to take over the operation. Beyond the exclusive package of regular-season games and a Sunday morning pregame show that is informative, comprehensive, and entertaining, there’s not much there. Total Access has diminished from borderline appointment television to a show that disappeared from the lineup for a week last month and hardly anyone noticed. Good Morning Football is gone until August or thereabouts, and who knows what it will be when it returns?

Lots of QB picked in the first round, including the top have flamed out. As a Browns fan I am eminently familiar with that. Not sure why Lance failed, surely the injury didn't help. I just don't see GMs changing their plan based on Harbaugh's praise of his QB, who he has no plans to draft. I am not saying nobody respects his opinion, just that these people do their own research and won't be swayed by somebody trying to con them into making a move that benefits them. (Would be different if Harbaugh were still UM coach, but even then these GMs would already need to be considering drafting a QB.)

Sounds like a salary dump, Bills giving him and 2 picks this year (5th & 6th rounds) to get a 2nd (might be top 10) round pick next year. Or just getting rid of a guy who isn't happy and will spend all year whining. I think this means BUF is no longer a serious playoff contender, AFCE is MIA's to lose.
