Chief Dick Posted July 5, 2008 Share Posted July 5, 2008 It's the 4th, the kids are sleeping, I have a full fridge of beer, it's a nice cool night here, thinking about my ribs tommorow, and I'm in the mood to ramble. I'm thinking that I don't drive enough to care about the price of gas. Chicken Nuggets from McDonalds are really, really awful. Who remembers Chicken McMaggots? When they ask at the grocery store if you want paper or plastic, is it better to kill a tree or refine some oil? Or should I use cloth bags? When someone does a documentary about saving the earth, do they factor in the amount of electricity, fuel, and other resources when they shoot that documentary? Who was a better drummer: John Bonham or Neal Peart? I don't really care about fantasy football anymore. My wife rolls her eyes when I harp on her about turning off lights and such, but my electric bill last month was $45. I win. My dog is really pissed today. She hates fireworks. Lots of tree cover--I have a couple of trees that have finally grown to be of benefit to us. Plus a lot of old growth oaks and maple trees. That and I think the electric company screwed up. I believe our electric bill usually maxes out in the $60 range, so $45 isn't a super low number IMO. One factor for us is we have natural gas for our heat, stove, water heater, and dryer. Well, "A Passage to Bangkok" isn't really Rush at their most instrumentally challenging; I recall really listening to "Tom Sawyer" a few years back, and that one is basically a clinic for guitar, drums, and bass - all 3 players shine at different times during that one. Of course I used a tad bit more electricity, but JEA decided , due to the rising costs of fuel, they are raising our electric by a whopping 15% and our water by 4%. Just in time for the peek summer usage. A very quick and easy way to make your money back. July and August's bill should be joyous. And sheik, listen to Caress Of Steel. A whole album side called The Fountain Of Lamneth. Going back even further, the first album(if you can get past the shabby lyrics) is some killer rock and roll. No Peart on drums though. If you want to stay with the newer stuff(not so new anymore), YYZ off of the same LP as Tom Sawyer is an awesome tune that showcases all three's musical talents. But I really think his best work is his solo projects. ETA: maybe I'm just old? I think this is Bruford, but nevermind him, check out Howe. Do celebrities who go on television and plead for our charitable donations ever donate money to the cause they are pimping or do they consider their time donation enough? It might be politically correct and may make one feel good to buy a car like a Prius ... but when you do the math you are better off buying a Corolla - it would take 12 years to recover the difference in the sticker price between the Prius and the Corolla (according to the special my wife watched). My wife goes to the store and buys a box of plastic garbage bags, which are promptly packed in plastic grocery bags for transport. Usually the last thing I do before I immediately get into the shower is drop a duece. The thing I find interesting is that I wash my hands in the sink upon completion before I step into the shower. One might think why wash your hands in the sink when you are instantly getting into the shower ? Another random thought that has been bothering me for about 2 months. I was on my way to work and was about a half of a block from my office and a little sparrow was walking in front of me.He was kind of boppin around and struggling a little bit. I wondered if he could fly or not. Then a person walked by with luggage on wheels and didnt see the sparrow and ran him over. The bird kind of did a little flip then kept bopping around. At this point I knew he couldnt fly. I am pissed at myself for not trying to find a box and hook the little bastard up. maybe try and get him home and bring him back to health in my yard or something. Recycling is not as environmental friendly as we have been lead to believe either. So there is this one guy in my building that refuses to use a urinal. Instead he goes into a stall and urinates into the comode, inevitably pissing on the seat as he does so.
