Turf toe strikes

Not good for White if he's playing San Diego in his first start. Of course his line might do a little better job that the Raiders did for Lamont Jordan in his 10 carries for 20 yards. I dropped White for Henry Sunday night, and was getting ready to pick White back up after hearing about the injury, but I think I'm just going to stay away from Tennessee RBs for week 2.

It's simply a matter of time until Brown gets hurt. As it is for Foster and Taylor.

Hey, Fred Taylor actually looked pretty good this weekend, despite handling a relatively heavy work load and missing his starting FB. I know Taylor's injury history. But he could surprise some people. I don't expect 16 games. But he isn't nicked up already (unlike some RBs), and he isn't splitting time. The list of RBs who fit those two criteria seems painfully shallow this year.

That right there is why Drew is a good player to have and why I stay away from the likes of Taylor and Brown during the draft. If I have to say: "I don't expect 16 games from this guy, but..." I'm not interested in the player as early as I'd have to pick him in order to get him.

I do agree that Taylor is in a better spot then some other RBs at the current time.

:D Dude, Taylor was going like 65+ picks in during most drafts. The "risk-free, 16 game" RBs were all well off the board by then. If you drafted Taylor this year, you're other choices were likely Chris Brown, Ahman Green, or *maybe* one of the Bells. I'm generally not interested in injury-prone guys or those in RBBC situations, either. But that deep in, that's what you're forced to choose from. Based on what I've seen thus far, Taylor's reward is outpacing his risk, relative to most of the other RBs who were drafted at or after his ADP.

2 of my leagues he went in the 4th and 5th rounds-- too early for me, but also consider that I often draft my 2 (if not 3) starting RBs in the first 4 rounds so by the time he comes around, I am looking elsewhere. Just personal choice.

I agree that 4th round is way too early, as Fred is a gamble this year. I only drafted him in one of my three leagues, and that was at 5.10 in a 12 team league. That "felt" a little early, but realistically, I didn't see any better RB value on the board (and I needed a #3 RB) so pulled the trigger with mild trepidation. But Fred looks good so far, so while no sane person should have reached for him this year, I merely think that he'll prove to be decent value for those who drafted him in the 5th, and great value for those got him later than that. But he'll likely miss some time, so Fred is a better #3 RB for those teams whose primary RBs have early bye weeks.

anyone know how bad the turf toe injuries are? will white be starting soon?

from the Huddle's team reports updated today...

--RB Chris Brown remains the Titans primary back, but heads into the practice week with a mild toe problem that the Titans will be monitoring closely.

--RB Travis Henry remains the Titans No. 2 running back, but like Chris Brown he heads into the practice week with a mild toe issue that will be worth monitoring. Though he scored two short TDs and a 2-point conversion in the opener, it would be a mistake to classify him as the team's goal line back.

--RB LenDale White was inactive for the Titans' opener, but toe issues for Chris Brown and Travis Henry could crack the door for White to make his first appearance in San Diego on Sunday.
