Bonehand
According to the Big Show, SA is "out for a few weeks" with a "non-displaced fracture". He declined giving a specific timetable, saying that these things take the time they take to heal. He expressed faith in Morris to perform well next week. Confirmed by Tacoma News Tribune/Seahawks Insider Blog: "Alexander out with cracked foot Posted by Mike Sando @ 02:20:56 pm RB Shaun Alexander will miss "at least a couple weeks" with a broken bone in his foot. Coach Mike Holmgren just confirmed the injury. This means RB Maurice Morris becomes the starter for the Chicago game and beyond. Alexander has played in 99 consecutive regular-season games. We'll have more specific information once Holmgren has finished his press conference. " Edited September 25, 2006 by Bonehand

Bill Swerski
Not terribly surprising, given his age and the workload he's had over the past two seasons. Given that this injury will fall right around my starting RB bye weeks, I'm a moron for not taking Morris in my draft.
Bonehand
Crap. Off to the WW I must go, but what split will there be between Morris and Strong? I would guess 80/20 Morris to Strong, as Fullback Mack's role shouldn't change much...
Jimmy Neutron
I have SA in 2 of my many leagues. I have Morris in several because he was cheap and this eventuality will offer him a great opportunity - I just didn't think it would come this fast! ebartender
So is now the time to trade for Alexander? If you can go 4-5 weeks or whatever without him you may be able to get him cheap now and stash him away for a playoff run.
wiegie
wow--I just snagged MM off the waiver-wire about 45 minutes ago Edit to add: as an SA owner I wish that I had wasted money on this pick-up Edited September 25, 2006 by wiegie
Bonehand
It's not all bad news: In the press conference, Holmgren confirmed that D-Jax, Burleson, Engram & Branch now refer to themselves collectively as "The Fantastic Four". I guess Engram is the invisible woman... Edited September 25, 2006 by Bonehand

The only thing to go off of is the divisonal playoff game last year when SA was concussed in the first quarter. Morris had 18 carries to 3 for Strong. Jackass
now the report is 'out indefinitely'. that sounds like more than a couple weeks to me.
TheGrunt
I hate Madden... I hate Shaun Alexander... I hate curses... It looks like Alexander will be out for a whole month. However, I'll remain the optimistic person that I am and see that this came at a good time. Week 4 Seattle @ Chicago Week 5 ---Bye--- Week 6 Seattle @ St. Louis Week 7 Minnesota @ Seattle So maybe weeks 6 and 7 could have been potential big weeks for Alexander, but hopefully he'll get healthy quicker than imagined and be back in time for the week 7 home game. Until then, my fantasy team just took a hugh nose dive.

Well, if it's only a fracture you wouldn't think it would be more than 4-5 weeks? Of course, the Hawks are already 3-0 If they keep winning they will be more and more cautious. Just a thought. Edited September 25, 2006 by Sam
