Bengal Mania
.....that the Bengals are #1 in the Sports Illustrated rankings this week? and 2nd only to the Colts on ESPN and Foxsports? I mention this not because I think it means anything (since you still have to play the games). I mention this because I can assure you they have never been ranked this high in the history of these internet rankings, and I was pleasantly surprised. WHO DEY THINK GONNA BEAT THEM BENGALS?????? NOOOOOOOOBODY! Does anyone smell an undefeated showdown with Indy in week 15? (Final thought: what are the betting odds that this post turns into a Steelers post within 10 replies?) ced1001
This is the first time in a long time that, as a Pats fan, I have been so afraid of playing a team on the road. Palmer looks fantastic. Wish I had drafted him.
crispirons
Does anyone smell an undefeated showdown with Indy in week 15? you are f'n nuts if you think they make it out of divisional play unscathed. they have a good chance to go down this weekend in fact. i expect an angry patriots squad coming to town wanting a victory pretty badly after last weeks showing. Just stirrin' the pot. No, I don't think that they make it nearly that far unscathed. I think a reapeat of last years 11-5 is absolutely doable, something I did not think during the offseason. I think the Patriots are coming in w/ a big desire to make up for last weeks lame performance. However, I also see the Bengals favored by almost a touchdown! Over the f'n Patriots! Man, the times have changed.

jjpro11
that defense is going to lose games for them late in the winter when its cold and snowy. the steelers ran way too easy on them despite not even having a passing game. haha.. jay leno just made a joke about the bengals right after i typed this. crispirons
thought i heard somewhere today that the pats haven't lost back to back games in over 4 yrs crispirons LOVES the pats on the moneyline sunday. i think the bengals have a letdown this week. might be a setup but the value is too good to pass up. looks to me like there are alot of good dogs that have excellent shots at winning outright. ravens, lions, skins, and raiders all might produce victories. Czarina
Eh, I don't know crispy. The Pats would have to play a LOT better to win this game, seriously. The defense looked OK in the first couple games, but those teams weren't exactly contenders. The offense is nowhere near to gelled. I don't think Brady knows the receivers first names yet even. Just send me the money instead. Better than giving it to some sleazy bookie.
Menudo
Although, the Bengals fans have to be thrilled to get a victory over the Steelers last weekend......a true fan will admit that the Steelers game also opened up some concerns that weren't seen in the first two weeks. #1 - Their defense can still be exposed. The Steelers were running at will. They were running successfully, even though the Bengals knew it was coming. Also, there were receivers open in the passing game, but, Ben was awful, and the receivers were dropping balls when he did get them there. #2 - Their offensive line can be exposed. The Steelers were all over Rudi most times he touched the ball. The Steelers d-line was getting big-time penetration on Bengals running plays. The O-line did even worse in pass protection, as the Steelers were all over Palmer throughout most of the game. Like I said, a win is a win, and they've got to be happy, but, if you look a little deeper, there still are some issues in Bengal-Land. That said, as a Bengals opponent, you better expose those issues, i.e. get pressure on Palmer, because if you don't, with those receivers, their passing game is unstoppable, which, as a rival's fan, is very, very frightening. Randall
WHO DEY THINK GONNA BEAT THEM BENGALS?????? NOOOOOOOOBODY! We'll see. I do like the Bengals as long as they can stay out of jail. It was real good to see TJ back. I predicted a huge year for him, but this ws his first game.
giggity
Any Steeler fan trying to point out flaws with the Bengals should also realize it was game number 3, of 16 and the first divisional game against their biggest division rival. Yes they had issues stopping the run, but they were missing one of the biggest pieces of that run defense in Dexter Jackson. They were also missing two starting LB in Pollack and Thurman. They are both gone for the year now, and good riddance to Thurman, but it will take a couple weeks for the LB core to gel together IMHO. The O-line also left a lot to be desired, but they were also missing their Starting center Brahm and were starting a second year guy at center. You know Dick LeBeau loves to test a guy like that, and for the most part they got the better of him, but I can only believe he will get better out of that. On the flip side, Big Ben has just not looked himself all year. He made more just plain bad passes than I can ever remember him making. He is definately not playing at the level of last years playoffs anymore. It has to be concerning that Hines Ward only has 9 receptions for under a hundred yards and one TD for the year. They only have one player on the team with over a hundred yards recieving and most of Heath Miller's yards came on a single play. And on the defensive side, what has happened to Troy? He has been hurt, but when he is in there he just doesn't look like himself. That shoulder is still hurting him as his arm just kinda hung there many times. I think both of these teams will continue to get stronger as the season goes on. They will find ways to fix these problems on both sides of the ball. Honestly I couldn't tell you which team was better Sunday, because with that many turnovers, neither team really looked "good". All I can say is I cannot WAIT for the final game of the year, at home, on New Year's Eve, hosting the Steelers, heres to that game having a lot of meaning, and good luck Menudo YOu're gonna need it

Even with the early Steelers troubles, I'm still predicting that the division is on the line in that final game of the season.

Bengal Mania
Cincinnati, the year 2036. Bengal Mania sits on his front porch rocker, with his little grandson, Bengal Mania III, on his lap.... ".....You see, it was back in '06 when I put the curse on the Bengals by pointin' out that they had been ranked #1 for the first time by one of the internet sports sites. A sign 'o good times, I said...." Grandson: "Oh, Gramps, why did you go and to that? The curse returned, and we've still never again made it to the Superbowl" Grampa Mania - "Well, I reckon so, but I think this year's team is finally gonna do it....I think they just might finally be able to stop the run this year......."
