gd74
Can the Chicago homers let us know if these rumblings have any truth to it... I saw it in a Weekly fantasy magazine that the Bears were a bit disappointed with Jones effort in the game Monday night ....in that there were lanes to run and he didnt capitalize on it... The article went on to say that Benson might be given a shot to be the starter after the bye week... I dont know if that was fact or just the writer's opinion though.. Jackass
whether this is just a rumor is unclear, but it would not surprise me to see Benson take over as the primary back at some point.
Bill Swerski
That's not really how I saw Jones' performance, but it wouldn't surprise me if they made Benson the primary back at some point. I don't think much will change, though, as the Bears O-line isn't run-blocking like they were last season.
rocknrobn26
Agree w/ Swerski. TJ may be gone next year, but I think Lovie will "Dance w/ the one that brought ya". But I don't think Benson has a lock on it either. Day by day, week by week, evals will be done. Frankly, There is an outside chance that TJ plays for the Bears next year, but a lot of things have to happen. The Bears DO like 2 quality RB's, and that's the bottom line. The problem I had with Jones Monday night was that he was dancing sideways instead bursting/running forward for yardage. It was frustrating to watch. I would love to see what Benson can do and hope there is some truth to the rumor.
SNOWBOUND33
I guess that answers my question from a homer... Benson will be starting soon. That's no homer. That's a Mike North fan.

There were at least two 3rd down plays where he got the ball in the flat & woulda had a nice shot at the first down line, but did a shake n bake and came up a few yards short both times. That needs to stop: he doesn't need to try to take it to the house, he needs to get that first down.

MERLINS
Benson owners will never stop wishing on a star. Not this year, not unless TJ gets hurt.
DaFreak
Benson owners will never stop wishing on a star. Not this year, not unless TJ gets hurt. Im not a Benson owner, just a Bear fan. Jones looked horrible Monday night and Benson will get his shot.
Footballjoe
I am a Benson owner in a dynasty league. I was hoping he would take over this year but after the first 4 week gave up hope. Then a few days ago someone made an offer for him. I figured something must be happening that I have not heard about. Anyhow, I hope he does get a shot soon but I am not counting on it. bushwacked
Im not a Benson owner, just a Bear fan. Jones looked horrible Monday night and Benson will get his shot. Don't know if I'd disagree, but there is something to be said about going 6-0 and then trying to "shake things up." Switching starting RB's is more than just Jones vs. Benson. It effects the O-line on every single play that Jones isn't in there. I don't know if Lovie would think giving Benson a shot in the near future is that smart if Da Bears keep winning. crispirons
i've said this in a few other threads. benson needs to get 25 carries in a game this yr so we know what we have with him. in fact, he needs a few games like that so we know its not a fluke one way or another. i don't know when or even if he gets this shot, i just want to see it. the only league i own either of them is 32 homers, and i have em both. give the kid the rock for a whole game already.....lets see what we have either way. The one wide right was just amazing, the DB was five yards away when TJ was doing his hip-hopping just two yards from the first down line. piratesownninjas
Come on now guys, Jones didnt play well... Neither did Grossman or anyone else on that offense. They got dominated one week on offense. I don't see Benson getting the lions share of the carries this year... Its just not going to happen. MERLINS
Exactly, he has one poor performance (based on one or 2 runs) and we're talking about Benson again. Dang. Benson will get his shot in weeks 16 and 17 to show the fans what he can do. I thought the same thing about TJ with his running bt you got to know that he wanted to break the big one against the Cards.

Not good.
