twiley
75 - I hate the cold and my wife hates it worse. I'd rather spend the cash on heating than huddle up in a blanket like some of the tightwads round here. Wurd. We keep ours at 72.

The Irish Doggy
Electronic Thermostat. Gas furnace. 5PM to 11PM - 67 11PM to 5PM - 62 We have a little space heater (with a timer auto shutoff) to get the bedroom/bathroom a little warmer in the morning without heating the whole house. Weekends stay at 67 except for nights. Average monthly heating bill for ~1200 sqft two-story house in the winter is $150-$200 in Cincinnati. T_bone65
Heat is for people too stupid to dress warm. +1 We keep the house at 71 most of the time with a little one around. Even at 71 my MIL wears her coat in the house and complains of it being freezing cold. If it were up to me it would be around 68 while we are home and awake and 60 while we are away or sleeping. AtomicCEO
When I was a poor hippie, I lived in two different houses that never got above 60 in the winter. We used to watch TV in mittens and hats if it got too cold.
chiefjay
My old man was the worst and cheapest. When I lived with him for a few years in my late teens I experienced both sides, cold and heat. He turned the heat all the way down at night, even in the middle of winter. I'd go to bed fully dressed and with a few blankets. I never wanted to get out of bed to go to school. In the middle of summer I slept upstairs with no a/c, Centrail Air or Window air. Freaking brutal. And the kicker????? My dad installs heating and cooling for a living. Azazello1313
we set it at around 76 because my wife freezes her ass off if it's colder than that. but that's a little misleading because the thermostat is in the absolute warmest spot in the whole house. the bedroom and basement (where we sleep and spend the most time) are usually a good 5 degrees cooler than that, sometimes more. edit: set it at about 80 during AC season. Scare Tactics
About 68 degrees but down to 60 at 10PM. Thats actually not a great idea. U really shouldnt drop ur temp more than 5 degrees, and 8 degree drop (if its below freezing outside) could run the risk of freezing up your pipes. Jimmy Neutron
I recently installed one of those "eco-friendly" units that reverts to 62 degrees on Heat mode. My wife manually defeats this feature, punching it up to 72-73 most of the time. Edit: Jimmy keeps it cool during the summer - 60. Gunther
You people better all have young kids or be elderly (save BJ and Pennypacker). 70 f'n degrees! I bet when it's 70 out in summer you have the air on as well. We keep the house at 62. Though we do splurge and have a space heater next to the computer to keep the feet warm. If it wasn't for my wife, it would be 65 while I'm in the house during the winter, but she would have it at 80 if it was solely up to her.
